I recently went to the newly opened Geobugi Dongne in Namcheon-dong, so here's a detailed review!!

Right in front of Namcheon Station Exit 1, easy to find on the first visit
I was looking for somewhere to eat meat in Namcheon-dong and ended up at Geobugi Dongne Namcheon Branch! The front of the building was neatly kept, so it stood out even on my first visit, and coming in the evening I saw quite a few people arriving for dinner. Near the entrance you can preview the menu and the store's vibe before going in...! (They have Catch Table reservations!)
Overall it had the relaxed vibe of a neighborhood barbecue place you can visit without much fuss...! Since it just opened, it felt especially lively and bright haha. Walking in, my first impression was bright and clean. Even though it's a barbecue place, the inside wasn't dark or stuffy at all, and the tables were neatly arranged too, so the first impression was good.

Once I sat down and looked around, the space was more spacious than I expected. It looked comfortable enough for a group to sit and eat, and I liked that things didn't feel too crowded while eating...!

14-day aged, 3.3cm thick
The secret to the flavor: 14-day aging! 3.3cm thickness! I was genuinely excited before I'd even eaten a bite!!

The inside was really spacious and comfortable! There's a separate kids' play area, and you can even watch it on TV while eating! The tables were super clean too!!

The menu

I ordered pork belly and pork jowl! And doenjang-jjigae on top of that!!!
The table setting and the self-serve corner
Everything needed was neatly set out on the table. The sauces and sides that go with the meat were within easy reach too, so I didn't have to ask for much extra along the way. The self-serve corner was really convenient!

While waiting for the order, I looked over the basic banchan one by one. They came in a lineup that went well with meat, so I kept reaching for one dish or another, nice for a light nibble before the main dishes arrived. The variety wasn't lopsided, so I could swap sides between bites of meat.

Even the same meat tastes different depending on what you pair it with, so it didn't get boring :)
The self-serve banchan corner

It was really clean and had a wide variety, so I could keep enjoying the meat without getting sick of it!

As for lettuce wraps... I don't eat them much myself..! but it was nice that they were right there in the corner if I wanted them!
Grilling and tasting the pork belly and pork jowl

Finally the meat I ordered arrived, and it looked appetizing at a glance. Served neatly on the plate, it was great for photos, and the portion looked generous too, so I was already excited before really digging in. The cuts weren't too thin, so I figured the texture would be great once grilled. As soon as it hit the grill, a delicious smell rose up right away, and watching it brown just made me hungrier and hungrier haha.

Instead of grilling a bunch of pieces all at once, we grilled just as much as we were about to eat, so it stayed warm right to the end and tasted even better that way. The texture was definitely better eating it right away before it cooled. I also tried dipping it in the sauce that came with it, and the flavor wasn't overpowering.

Once one side was cooked enough and I flipped it, the color looked even more appetizing. I grilled it so the outside browned nicely while the inside stayed juicy, and definitely not overcooking it made it taste better. I tried the well-cooked meat first with nothing else added.

It tasted different from eating the meat alone, so I kept alternating between the two. It was nice having sides that refreshed my palate in between bites. Whenever it started to feel a bit greasy, a bite of banchan cleaned my mouth right up, which meant I could eat more than I expected without feeling weighed down.
While the meat was grilling, that sizzling sound just made it feel even tastier somehow. The more it cooked, the more the surface glistened, which made it look even better, and it was the perfect moment to snap a photo.

The meat's own savory flavor really came through, with almost no gamey taste, so from the first bite it felt cleaner than I expected. The texture wasn't tough or dry at all, just pleasantly tender. The more I chewed, the more juice I could taste, so it was plenty good without any sauce at all — people who like the meat's natural flavor would probably enjoy this a lot.

Finishing with doenjang-jjigae
Piling the saltier seasoned banchan on top of the meat, a bowl of rice disappeared faster than expected haha. Having the stew alongside made the meal feel a lot more complete. A spoonful of warm broth in between bites of meat felt like it reset my palate, so I naturally kept alternating between the two.

What kind of day is this good for
Eating through the meal, everything overall felt solidly done right. Rather than anything too intense or heavy, it was the kind of style you could keep eating comfortably, so it seemed like a place most people would enjoy without complaint. I shared different things with the person I went with and ate slowly, and the atmosphere wasn't so formal that it got in the way of conversation.
It was a satisfying dinner from start to finish. I also liked how neatly the store was managed overall. The tables and surroundings were tidy, so there was no discomfort during the meal, and it had less of that chaotic feeling typical of barbecue restaurants.
It seems like a good spot to visit for a dinner with friends in Namcheon-dong. It's not overly formal, but it's a proper place to have a real meal, so it'll probably come to mind on a day I want to eat meat casually. It also seemed like a reasonable choice for a family meal out...!
