Doesn't the exterior alone scream good restaurant? Haha. It's survived a long time on Songridan-gil, packed with so many famous eateries — which basically proves it's the real deal.

Compact interior of Susi Seon Bangi Branch with about four tables

The inside was pretty compact — about four tables, so I'd guess there could be a wait during peak times. I also saw a lot of delivery orders going out, which confirmed my suspicion that this is a solid spot.

What comes in the 38,000-won couple set?

I ordered the couple set (₩38,000). It's a massive spread — 16 pieces of nigiri plus tonkatsu plus a mini udon (soba) — and I highly recommend it if you're visiting with someone.

After ordering, a warm porridge came out first to gently settle the stomach. It wasn't heavily seasoned — mild and comforting — which can feel like a lot if sushi or tonkatsu hits an empty stomach right away, but this warm, soft porridge eased things in first. Stomach preheating: complete ✨

Along with the soft porridge came a spicy-tangy salad noodle dish. Crunchy vegetables and chewy noodles tossed in a sweet-and-sour sauce that really woke up my appetite — a perfect start >.<

16 pieces of nigiri, and salmon cut impressively thick

The nigiri lineup at Susi Seon Bangi Branch may vary slightly by visit! On the day I went, it was flounder, salmon, tuna, soy-marinated shrimp, king sweet shrimp, octopus, scallop, and crab meat.

❓When you eat an assorted sushi platter, do you eat your favorite piece first, or save it for last? I'm a first-eater, but it seems to really vary from person to person haha.

Honestly, the price is so affordable that I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality. But there's clearly a reason this place has survived. Not a trace of dryness — moist and fresh, melting the moment it hit my mouth.

Can you see how thick that salmon is?????? A lot of places slice it thin these days, but Susi Seon's cuts are genuinely thick, so every bite fills your mouth with a satisfying heft. That thickness made the chewy texture and rich, savory fat come through so much more intensely.

Cheese katsu, plain tonkatsu and bolzcass cutlet

It's not just about the sushi — the tonkatsu is amazing too, so seriously, order the couple set. No question about it, ㅠㅠㅠ

I picked up a piece of the cheese katsu, and the cheese inside was seriously heavy and poured out like a waterfall — an insane amount packed in there.

The plain tonkatsu was crispy enough on the outside to make an audible crunch, while the meat inside was so moist and tender — true crispy-outside, juicy-inside perfection!!!!

Bolzcass packed full of filling

A quietly special find was the bolzcass! The filling was packed in without a single gap, making it fun to chew. One bite gave off a mild, soft flavor kind of like a croquette — I think it'd suit kids' tastebuds just as much as adults'. Honestly, this place could pass as a tonkatsu specialist on its own, haha.

Finishing the meal with the mini udon

It'd feel a bit off without soup, right?? As if anticipating that, the couple set comes complete with a mini udon too. The salty yet deep, clean broth cut through the flavors of the sushi and tonkatsu I'd just eaten perfectly. The noodles held their bounce and chewiness without going soft — a perfect finish >.<

There wasn't a single weak item in the whole lineup — everything felt thoughtfully put together. The whole experience flowed like a perfect course from start to finish, so I'd confidently recommend this place to anyone who wants to properly enjoy great sushi and a hearty Japanese meal 💗
