Today I visited a sushi spot in Bangi-dong, Jamsil that's been running for a whopping 13 years — Susi Seon Bangi Branch! I was craving good sushi so I headed over to the Bangi-dong food alley haha~
There are so many good restaurants in Bangi-dong, but I was extra curious about this one since it's been at the same spot for so long! Sushi especially depends on fresh ingredients and skill, so a long-running place had me expecting good things haha.
That day we tried a variety of sushi at Susi Seon Bangi Branch! Let me introduce everything one by one, from the sushi itself to the sides that go well with it.

Inside the Bangi-dong food alley: is Susi Seon good for solo diners?

Susi Seon Bangi Branch sits right in the Bangi-dong food alley so it's easy to get to, and the exterior gives off a warm, familiar feeling haha. There's a comfortable vibe even before you walk in, which made it feel like an easy, no-pressure place to visit!
When I visited, there were people eating solo as well as groups of friends or acquaintances dining together. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed too, so it looked like a great spot for lunch if you're hunting for a good sushi restaurant in Bangi-dong. Being run for so long, it had that comfortable, neighborhood-sushi-shop feel, which I really liked haha.

The inside had orange lighting and felt cozy and warm haha. The whole space had a relaxed feel, so it seemed good whether you're eating alone or with friends!
The kitchen is open, too, so you can actually watch the sushi being made. Getting to see the whole process up close made it even more exciting haha. Most of all, the owner welcomed us so warmly that even on a first visit it felt comfortable! Maybe because it's been running for so long, the whole restaurant had a friendly, homey feeling :)
What we ordered: two special sushi sets and a mini cheese cutlet

We ordered two servings of the special sushi 10pcs (₩17,000 each), plus a mini cheese cutlet (₩3,000) and a zero-sugar cola (₩2,000)! Sushi was the main event for us as a pair, with sides on top haha. I was curious what exactly comes in the special sushi set, so I waited excitedly!

Before the sushi came out, they first brought seasoned noodles with vegetables and porridge! It was nice for settling the stomach before the sushi arrived, and honestly it was tastier than I expected — I kept reaching for more haha. The noodles were well seasoned and the porridge was soft, making for a light starter before the main event!

What comes in the 17,000-won special sushi 10pcs?
The special sushi we ordered finally arrived! 🍣 Susi Seon Bangi Branch's special sushi set is halibut 2p, salmon 2p, tuna 2p, king shrimp 1p, eel 1p, soy-marinated shrimp 1p, and sea urchin roe 1p, for 10 pieces total! It was plated beautifully on one plate — just looking at it made my mouth water haha.
I loved that my favorites — halibut, salmon, and tuna — were all evenly included, plus king shrimp, eel, soy-marinated shrimp, and sea urchin roe on top, so it was a set where you could try a bunch of different kinds at once haha. From my usual go-tos to things I was trying for the first time, it was fun to pick through one by one.

Looking closer, the sashimi looked really fresh and was piled on thick, which made it even more appetizing haha. There was noticeably more fish than rice, which was satisfying just to look at! The colors were vivid and the cuts thick, so as befits a Bangi-dong sushi spot in Jamsil, it looked good before I'd even taken a bite 🍣 I was curious how each piece would taste so I dug in right away haha. So fresh and thick — it looked delicious~
Tuna nigiri and wasabi at Susi Seon

I'm a big wasabi person, so I kept adding more as I ate haha. Sushi really does taste better with a little sharp wasabi on the side!
I started with the tuna sushi! The tuna was so soft and savory it melted in my mouth haha. I already love tuna in general, and Susi Seon Bangi Branch's tuna was genuinely delicious! The thick cut gave it good texture when chewing, and the tuna's signature savoriness really came through — personally one of my favorite pieces of the day 🍣

Soy-marinated shrimp nigiri
Then I tried my favorite — soy-marinated shrimp!!! The shrimp was so fresh and bouncy, it was seriously delicious! It already comes marinated in soy sauce, but since I love soy sauce, I dipped it in even more soy sauce lol.
Still, that extra bit of salty soy flavor paired really well with the rice haha. The shrimp's springy texture combined with the savory depth of the soy marinade made for a great bite!

King shrimp, sea urchin roe, halibut and eel
The king shrimp was soft and tasty, and the sea urchin roe was so good too!!! 🥹 The king shrimp had meat that was soft yet still had a nice bounce, which I really enjoyed haha.
Last, I tried the sea urchin roe sushi, and the soft, savory flavor unique to sea urchin was so good! It seemed like it would've been plenty tasty on its own, but since I had a lot of leftover wasabi by the last piece haha, I piled it all on top of the sea urchin roe!! The sharp bite of the wasabi mixed with the soft, savory sea urchin was amazing too haha. I finished that last piece feeling very satisfied! 🍣
The halibut was, of course, delicious too haha — chewy texture, clean flavor, great as sushi as always!
The eel was soft and moist with just the right sweet-salty seasoning, so it was great too haha. The signature savory eel flavor came through well, and eating it with ginger cut the richness nicely, making everything more balanced! The seasoning was spot on and it worked really well with the ginger.

Mini cheese cutlet for 3,000 won alongside the sushi
The mini cheese cutlet!!! Apparently this is all handmade in-house! Maybe that's why it tasted even better haha. It was packed with cheese, so it had that savory, stretchy pull, and the mini size made it perfect to pair alongside the sushi! Alternating between sushi and a bite of cheese cutlet turned out to be a great combo haha.

Cold soba or udon: the side that comes with the special sushi
Ordering the special sushi gets you a choice of cold soba or udon as a side! We each picked one and shared both the soba and the udon haha. Both paired well with the sushi and tasted great! If you want something warm, go for the udon; if you want something cool and refreshing, go for the cold soba haha. I especially liked that they gave a generous amount of wasabi with my cold soba!
Honest verdict on Susi Seon Bangi Branch
Overall it was a satisfying meal, from the sushi to the sides haha. The sashimi was fresh and nicely thick, and I loved getting to try so many different kinds of sushi in one sitting! Most of all, since it's been running for 13 years, the comfortable, familiar atmosphere really won me over.
It's a great spot for a light solo meal, but also a fine choice to bring friends or acquaintances and enjoy sushi together! If you're looking for a good sushi restaurant in Bangi-dong, Susi Seon is worth a visit haha. I'd especially recommend it to anyone looking for a good sushi or Japanese restaurant near Jamsil, or searching the Bangi-dong food alley for somewhere to eat, or wanting a clean sushi lunch. This is definitely a place I'd want to come back to next time I'm out in Bangi-dong 🍣
