Today I visited Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang Cheonan Sinbuldang branch, a place in Sinbuldang-dong, Cheonan that's often mentioned as a great gathering spot thanks to its value for money, meat quality, and amenities all in one.
I'm usually pretty picky when eating out — not just about the meat quality but the table setup and how comfortable the space feels. After trying it myself, I was satisfied enough to think, "I'd genuinely come back here and pay full price again." Let me walk you through the menu, the actual taste, and some visit tips in detail.

What's the atmosphere like? Rooms and playroom
The moment you step inside, you feel a pleasant sense of openness. The tables are spaced generously and the ventilation is well set up, so there's none of that stuffy, smoke-filled feeling you often get at BBQ places — it's really comfortable.

They also have private rooms, so if you're looking for an important occasion or a quieter setting, it'd be good to book one in advance!

One of the things that stood out most was this dedicated kids' playroom. It's kept impeccably clean, so it'd be perfect for big family meals with young kids or group gatherings.
You can even watch the kids through the playroom's CCTV feed from the dining hall, which felt like a really thoughtful touch for parents with young children haha

Since it's a butcher-style restaurant, the owner prepares the meat over on that side. It felt very professional, which made me trust the place even more and got me even more excited haha
Ready to eat some meat!

Aged pork half-set, 500g for ₩38,000 — what's included?
A la carte is great, but the set that lets you taste a variety of cuts at a reasonable price is really appealing.
- Menu ordered: Aged pork half-set (500g / ₩38,000)
- Cuts included: pork belly + five-layer belly + pork neck + pork jowl + gabrisal
Given today's prices, being able to enjoy 500g across five different cuts for under ₩40,000 really stood out as great value.

This is the aged pork half-set. They say it goes through a low-temperature aging process at 2°C, and each cut had a nice sheen, with the reddish-pink color and marbling coming together beautifully.
Once the grill was heated to the right temperature, we laid the thick cuts on one by one. With a sizzling sound and a savory aroma rising up, the clean scent — free of the usual gamey smell you sometimes get — really got my appetite going. The owner and staff kept a close eye on our table throughout, which made grilling much easier.

The heat was strong, sealing in the juices as the meat cooked quickly. We flipped each piece at just the right moment so the outside got crisp while the inside stayed juicy.

How generous are the side dishes?
The basic side dish spread that arrives after ordering is really abundant.
Lettuce for wraps, shredded green onion, kimchi, and even a stew that comes standard with the meal fill up the table before the main meat even arrives, giving a solid, satisfying feeling from the start. They even had rolled egg omelet and tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes)... I was in heaven.

Texture of the pork jowl and gabrisal
After enjoying the belly and neck, we grilled the pork jowl and gabrisal next. They had that distinctive slightly crunchy yet chewy texture with a rich savory flavor, making it fun to experience different textures cut by cut within the half-set.
A well-cooked piece bursts with juices the moment it hits your mouth, with a texture that's wonderfully tender to chew. There was no toughness or dryness — the more you chewed, the deeper the umami flavor, letting you really feel the appeal of aging.

Wrapping it up with green onion kimchi was so delicious. Even looking back at the photos now, I want to eat it again. T_T

Complimentary pork skin from the Naver review event
This is the pork skin I got for free by taking part in the Naver receipt review event. Grilled to a golden brown and dipped in roasted soybean powder, it had a wonderfully chewy yet crispy texture — a real treat. I usually order naengmyeon (cold noodles) as a must-have after eating meat, but with such generous side dishes and this pork skin on top, I was completely full without needing any extra sides.

I really love dipping pork skin in sweet rice cake powder, and being able to get it for free felt like an amazing deal. With service like this, I'd be happy to leave 100 reviews. T_T

Golden and crispy~ Thankfully, cutting it didn't cause much splattering on the grill.

Dipping it in the sweet rice cake powder makes it wonderfully chewy and satisfying to eat. The pork skin was top-notch quality too. The two of us cleaned our plates of the 500g half-set plus the pork skin, no leftovers, and left feeling completely content.
Summary: who would I recommend this to?
Hanmaeum Jeonguk Sikdang in Cheonan's Sinbuldang area is a place where reasonable prices, meat quality, a clean dining environment, and friendly service all come together really well.
- Aged pork half-set recommended: at ₩38,000, an ideal menu that lets you fully enjoy five cuts — belly, five-layer belly, neck, jowl, and gabrisal.
- Generous table setting: hearty side dishes and stew mean you don't need a separate meal item.
- Event tip: be sure to claim the pork skin you get from the Naver review event — a chewy, satisfying finish to the meal.
- Space satisfaction: the dining hall is spacious and comfortable, and with a fully equipped kids' playroom, it's a strong pick for family meals or group gatherings.
- Location: near Buldang-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, Chungnam / it's on the edge of the neighborhood, so it's quieter and less crowded than the average spot in Sinbuldang.
Tender, juicy aged meat, a generous spread, and a kids' playroom to boot — a Sinbuldang BBQ spot I'd definitely visit again!
