Dinner set with refillable banchan and building parking: Hyangtaek
In short
Hyangtaek Cheonan Buldang Branch is a Korean restaurant in Buldang-dong, Cheonan, Chungnam. Visiting for dinner, the writer ordered a full set of hanpan galbi (grilled short ribs), mackerel gondre rice, and yukhoe bibimbap, refilled the gungchae pickle and mixed jeotgal side dishes, and found the building's parking tower and solo bar seats convenient for both family dinners and solo diners.

I was scrolling through Threads and saw a post about a new Hyangtaek branch opening in Cheonan haha. Someone had written something like "so glad they opened one in Cheonan too" because they'd loved it so much before, so I got curious and looked it up — turns out it's a Korean restaurant known for neat, well-arranged table settings. It seemed like a solid place for a hearty meal or a no-pressure solo meal, so I decided to check it out!
I visited in the evening and there were a lot of families with kids there too. It's good for office workers grabbing a quick lunch, and comfortable whether you're dining solo or with family — so today I'm posting about Hyangtaek in Buldang-dong, Cheonan!

Buldang-dong parking: using the in-building parking tower
For parking, you enter through the Golden Plaza II parking tower entrance, and there's a parking lot set up inside the building. Buldang-dong is basically parking hell... so any place with actual parking is already a win haha. Easy to visit by car — first checkmark passed.

It's on the 1st floor of the building, and thanks to the bright lighting I could spot it right away! There's Pildam Bakery Café and Sae Women's Clinic across the street, so it's easy to find if you're in the area. The exterior was clean and warm-looking, so the atmosphere was nice when I visited in the evening.

There's also a menu banner set up outside, so you can check what's on the menu before going in haha.

Interior and the solo dining bar table
The interior is done up in a wood-tone style, so it felt warm and comfortable. Tables are set up for 4 people, and there's also a bar table on one side that's good for solo dining, so it's a no-pressure atmosphere even if you're eating alone.

There are disposable aprons prepared on the wall, so anyone who needs one can just grab and use it.

Napkins, paper cups, spoons and chopsticks were already set on the table, and water was brought right away — not plain bottled water but a savory roasted-grain-style water, which was nice.

Menu board and the weekday review event
The menu board was clean and well-made, with mackerel gondre rice, eggplant doenjang rice bowl, and hanpan mushroom listed as the signature dishes. There's also a Naver receipt review event running — write a review on a weekday (excluding weekends and holidays) and you get the signature hanpan mushroom for free.

After ordering, the side dishes came out first — after a short wait. Seaweed, mixed jeotgal (seasoned seafood), gungchae pickles, and doenjang soup. The yukhoe bibimbap came with an egg yolk and gochujang sauce, and the mackerel gondre rice came with a separate soy sauce.

While waiting for the food, I read the "how to eat it deliciously" note on the table haha. It explained how to eat each dish, so it's worth reading before the food arrives :)

The hanpan galbi, mackerel gondre rice, and yukhoe bibimbap set
All the dishes I ordered came out at once — hanpan galbi (grilled short ribs) / mackerel gondre rice / yukhoe bibimbap. Once the full spread was laid out, it looked even more generous and neatly arranged than I expected ✨

Mackerel gondre rice — boneless, so it's easy to mix
The staff explained how to eat it best while serving it — since the mackerel is boneless, you break it up and mix it well with the gondre (aster) rice. It's already seasoned, so try it first and if it tastes too mild, add the soy sauce a little at a time, they said haha.
I broke up the mackerel and mixed it into the gondre rice. A delicious smell rose right up, and along with gondre and mackerel there were also mushrooms and sesame seeds mixed in, so it was really nutty.

The mackerel was boneless so it was easy to eat and had a clean flavor. The gondre had a subtle, distinct aroma that went really well with the rice. It was a meal where you could really taste the ingredients themselves.

Yukhoe bibimbap — mix in the yolk
Next up was the yukhoe bibimbap! I tried the yukhoe (raw seasoned beef) first with one bite, and it was really fresh and delicious.

Added in the egg yolk that came with it too ~
Added a bit more gochujang sauce and mixed it all together. Once the yolk and yukhoe were evenly mixed through the rice, it got even nuttier and tastier haha. Under the lettuce there were also bean sprouts and pear — the bean sprouts were crunchy and the pear was sweet, so the texture went really well with the yukhoe.

There was a generous amount of yukhoe and rice, and the gochujang sauce was tasty too. It was good wrapped in the seaweed that came with it, and it also paired really well with the hanpan galbi on top.

Refills of gungchae pickle and mixed jeotgal
The gungchae pickle and mixed jeotgal were both great with rice ~ Once I finished them, I asked for a refill and they brought out this much — hehe. The gungchae was crunchy and good with rice, and the mixed jeotgal seemed to have squid jeotgal with something extra added — maybe pine nuts? It was really nutty. It's the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more with rice haha.

Hanpan galbi — soft seasoning kids would like too
The golden-brown grilled galbi looked even more appetizing with all that glossy sheen. The edges were grilled slightly crispy while the center looked moist — the juicy look made me want to grab a bite right away!
I cut into it a little with chopsticks and it sliced more easily than expected. If cutting it is tricky, you can ask staff for scissors too.

The hanpan galbi had almost an upscale neobiani (Korean marinated grilled beef) flavor, I'd say? The sweet-and-salty seasoning was well soaked into the meat, and it was tender to bite into. The seasoning wasn't sharp or overpowering, so it seemed like the kind of flavor kids would enjoy too.
A spot that works for both family dinner and solo dining
Hyangtaek, a Buldang-dong favorite! It was a Korean restaurant good for a hearty, satisfying meal haha. Every dish felt clean and well put together, and the rice was filling. The hanpan galbi especially seemed like something kids would like, so it'd be a good pick for a family dinner with kids too. The place was clean, the staff were friendly, and there's a table good for solo dining, so I'd recommend it for office workers' lunch or anyone in Buldang-dong looking for a solo dining spot.
