How busy is Cheongwon Sikdang right after the 11am opening?

Interior of Cheongwon Restaurant with about 11 tables spaced widely

We got there around 11:10, right after opening, and there were already two or three tables occupied. Right after 11:30 customers kept streaming in and the place filled up fast😆 (there might be a wait at peak times). The interior was super clean, with about 11 tables spaced out generously so it felt comfortable haha. There's also a clean restroom inside the restaurant ε ᴗ̈ ɜ

Songtan budae-jjigae vs Cheongwon budae-jjigae: what's the difference?

Cheongwon Restaurant's menu board listing Songtan and Cheongwon budae-jjigae

Cheongwon Restaurant's signature menu splits into two, and the difference was really clear. Songtan budae-jjigae is the deep, rich flavor of classic budae-jjigae, while Cheongwon budae-jjigae has cheongyang chili mixed in for a spicy, refreshing hangover-cure flavor. Since we wanted to fully clear our heads, we ordered two servings of Cheongwon budae-jjigae (1.2 each) plus a glass noodle topping (0.2) 😋

By the way, there's a wide range of toppings too — ham, sausage, beef brisket, cheese, Shin Ramyun noodles — and there's even a kids' menu like the signature pork loin cutlet (0.9) for children who can't handle spicy food, so it's a great spot for families (●ˇ∀ˇ●)

How does Cheongwon budae-jjigae taste? A cheongyang chili hangover broth

Cheongwon budae-jjigae served in a pot before boiling

The owner brought out the stew first, then came back around when it started boiling and personally stirred it with a ladle, so I could just relax and wait without worrying about when it'd be ready. Above all, the owner and staff were full of energy and genuinely kind🥹🫶

Spicy Cheongwon budae-jjigae loaded with ham and sausage

The main dish, Cheongwon budae-jjigae, is loaded with cheongyang chili, so the broth is genuinely spicy and hot in a way that clears you right out🤤

The meat comes in big chunks, and there's a generous amount of ham and sausage too, so the spicy-salty-sweet combo is insane(✿゚▽゚) Also, each table has its own kettle of broth, so whenever the soup got a bit dry we could refill it right away, which was super convenient

A tip for enjoying Cheongwon Restaurant to the fullest (^з^)-☆ By the way, if you ask a staff member directly, they'll bring you the fish cake side dish

The free egg roll before 11:30am is worth arriving early for

If you visit Cheongwon Restaurant before 11:30am, they'll give you a big, warm egg roll for free😆 (even if you go later, you can still get one by participating in the Naver review event)

Unlimited ramen noodles and rice at the self-serve side dish counter

At Cheongwon Restaurant's self-serve side dish counter, there's kimchi and bean sprouts set out, and the ramen noodle topping and rice are unlimited refills.

At the self-serve side dish counter there's kimchi and bean sprouts laid out😆 And the best part is that the ramen noodles and rice are unlimited refills..! If I'd had any more room in my stomach I would've crushed a whole ramen topping, but I was way too full so it wasn't possible haha

Takeout budae-jjigae is 2,000 won cheaper

On the wall I noticed they're running a ₩2,000 discount event on takeout budae-jjigae. There were quite a few people getting it to go too

Right by the exit door after finishing my meal, there was even a coffee machine set up so I could wrap things up neatly — a perfect finishing touch ♪(´▽`)
