New 5,000-won tsukune platter at Eunpyeong ramen spot: Oreno Ramen
In short
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a Michelin-listed ramen restaurant on Bulgwangcheon-gil, a 5-minute walk from Saejeol Station Exit 2 in Eunpyeong, Seoul. Hearing that the new mixed tsukune (chicken meatballs) had launched at 5,000 won, the writer and her husband came for dinner and ordered tori paitan and kara paitan ramen at 13,000 won each plus a soft-boiled egg for 1,000 won, then took a free refill of noodles and broth. I've lost count of how many times I've been, but this is my true ride-or-die ramen restaurant "Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong," and when I heard they'd launched a new menu item, my husband and I went straight over!

This was my first time coming in the evening, and the bold sign catches your eye from far away!! You can park in front, beside the restaurant, and along Bulgwangcheon too~!
Inside the restaurant: bar counter and open kitchen

It's set up with a bar table and 4-person tables! There's one window table~ And since it's an open kitchen, you can watch them cook, which makes it feel extra trustworthy!

Sitting at the window seat gives you a view of Bulgwangcheon stream~🌲
At Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong, you order at the self-service kiosk right when you walk in, then take a seat!

Oreno Ramen is actually Korea's very first ramen restaurant listed in Michelin!? They've mastered it with just 2 kinds of ramen — you can imagine how good it must be!?
Free noodle, broth and rice refills, plus the radish pickle side
At Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong, you can get free refills of noodles (half or full portion), broth, and rice, and kimchi and cilantro can also be refilled.
The house side dish is a radish pickle at every seat! This radish pickle is a real highlight. It has cheongyang chili in it, so it pairs really well with the tangy, spicy ramen.
As a total cilantro fanatic, cilantro is a must for me. The rice for dunking in the ramen broth and the kimchi and pickled ginger on the side were for my husband.
What we ordered and what it cost
- Tori paitan ramen ₩13,000
- Kara paitan ramen ₩13,000
- Mixed tsukune ₩5,000
- Soft-boiled egg add-on ₩1,000

What does the tori paitan ramen taste like?
Tori paitan ramen (₩13,000) — just look how rich~~ the broth is. One spoonful and you're genuinely giving it a 👍👍 thumbs up. It's richer than most meat broths yet still clean, it's insane.
The sous vide chicken breast is so tender you could eat it with just your gums...👍👍👍 "If chicken breast could always taste like this, I'd actually succeed at dieting" — that's what my husband says every single time we come to Oreno Ramen hahaha (and I 100% agree).

The noodles are insanely springy and chewy, and I love that they're not too thick! And the wood ear mushrooms give such an amazing crunchy texture with the ramen ㅜㅜㅜ why isn't there a wood ear mushroom add-on option..ㅠㅠ
Ramen + wood ear mushroom + chicken breast + broth all in one bite — pure happiness. Like all the happiness in the world is in my mouth right now.
Is the 1,000-won soft-boiled egg worth adding?
Every ramen comes with a whole egg as standard! But the soft-boiled egg here is so insanely good that we always add one extra hahaha. Just look at this — a perfect soft-boiled egg. I'm actually really good at boiling soft eggs myself, but the yolk here is so silky-soft... You could just eat this egg on its own and it'd be delicious ㅜㅜ.
How spicy is the kara paitan ramen?

Kara paitan ramen (₩13,000) is the spicy version of tori paitan ramen. Adding spice to that already rich broth means it's got to be even more delicious, right..? It's not like blow-your-head-off spicy, but as you eat, your nose starts running before you know it hahaha. A pleasantly spicy level, I'd say. Every time we drink the broth, my husband and I keep saying, seriously, how do they make a broth like this.

And personally, I think cilantro suits kara paitan even better than tori paitan! The spiciness plus the cilantro aroma makes the flavor richer, somehow. Tori paitan is best just as it is!

I want to describe how moist and tender the chicken breast is, but words fail me. Seriously, please just come try it yourselves!
See how neatly we polished it off? You've got to dip the soft-boiled egg lightly in the broth for the perfect finish. And definitely dunk some rice in there too~
The new mixed tsukune for 5,000 won

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong's new menu item, mixed tsukune, is ₩5,000. This is what we came for! Wait, but boss, this is only ₩5,000!?

They really know how to make tsukune here too... it's moist, tender, insane. Can chicken breast really be made into this? The sauce on top looks like mayo and cheese sauce — the mayo seems to have some grated ginger in it, giving it a slight zing that's really tasty, and the cheese, well, need I say more. This is absolutely the perfect beer snack..🍻

Refilling a full portion of noodles and more broth
After eating all that... I was still a little hungry... so one noodle refill, and refilled broth for each of us hahaha. This basically becomes a whole new bowl of ramen. And when you refill the noodles, they're angels and give you extra chicken too...👼
. . . And then we finished it all again🤤
Final verdict on Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong
Every single time I come here, I leave stuffed and completely satisfied. In my opinion, this is genuinely the number one ramen restaurant in Korea. I recently went to Japan too, but honestly, there's no need to fly to Japan just for ramen. Want to feel like you're in Japan? Just go to Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong — it's basically Japan right there, hit the spot, hit the spot👍👍👍 If you're looking for a great ramen restaurant, I'm recommending this one a hundred times over!
