Yeonsinnae beef grill with muksabal and bibim naengmyeon: Golmokjip
In short
Golmokjip Galbisal Yeonsinnae Main Branch is a charcoal beef grill on Yeonseo-ro 27-gil near Yeonsinnae Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. Returning to a college-day favorite, the writer ordered two servings of raw galbisal (unmarinated beef rib meat), muksabal (acorn jelly in cold broth, 3,900 won) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) arrived free of charge. This was not nostalgia talking — Golmokjip Galbisal tastes even better now, and the writer will pay their own way back.

Want galbisal (beef rib meat) in Yeonsinnae? Just come here!!! I have a memory of eating here back in college, and I went back after a long time. And the really funny thing is — usually when you get older and revisit a spot you remember loving, you go "wait... why did I think this was good?" But here it actually tasted even better than I remembered.

What the retro dining room at Golmokjip Galbisal looks like

The Golmokjip Galbisal Yeonsinnae Main Branch had a slightly retro atmosphere. There are lots of sleek, modern grill houses these days, but this place had a bit of an old-school meat restaurant feel that actually felt kind of charming. But even though the vibe was retro, the place was totally clean, which I especially liked.
And the staff were seriously so kind! On my way out, I saw them cleaning the tables with what looked like alcohol disinfectant spray. It wasn't just a quick wipe-down of visible spots — it felt like they were thoroughly cleaning the tables, which was reassuring hygiene-wise.

Side dishes and the house special sauce
The side dishes also came out neatly arranged. The basic sides were pickled radish, perilla leaves, lettuce, and kimchi,

along with soy-pickled cucumber and onion, wasabi, salt, ssamjang (thick dipping sauce), and a house special sauce.
The house special sauce here was especially amazing!!! It went so well with the meat that I kept dipping into it. All the side dishes were neat and clean overall, so they were great to mix in while eating the meat.
And here's the meat, grilling away over the charcoal fire!

Two servings of raw galbisal: why it beat the college-day memory
The raw galbisal was seriously insane. I ordered two servings of raw galbisal at Golmokjip Galbisal,

and it was seriously incredible!!! It tasted exactly like what I remembered from college, but somehow eating it now made it feel even better.

The meat itself was so good that it was delicious with just a light dip in salt, and just as delicious dipped in the house special sauce.

I could really taste that distinctive savory flavor of galbisal. Usually when I revisit old favorite spots from the past, the food often ends up tasting kind of average, but
here it was the opposite — I thought, "it was good back then, but it's still genuinely delicious now?"
So this wasn't just a one-time meal — I'm planning to go back again and pay for it myself!!

The free doenjang jjigae that comes with the meat
And the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) came out free, and it was actually really delicious!!!

There was meat in it, tons of tofu, and a good amount of vegetables too — a proper stone-pot stew, basically. And this was free...

I didn't expect much since it's just a complimentary stew at a meat restaurant, but it was so much better than I expected that I kept eating it. It was great with rice, and also perfect for wrapping up the meal after all the meat.
Is the 3,900-won muksabal worth ordering?

The muksabal (acorn jelly in cold broth) I ordered alongside was decent. The seasoning was well balanced, so it was good to eat alongside the meat, but at ₩3,900, the jelly itself wasn't super premium quality or anything like that. Still, it was good for a refreshing spoonful here and there between bites of meat.

Bibim naengmyeon to finish the meal
I also ordered bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles), and it was delicious too. After all that meat, slurping down a bite of bibim naengmyeon made me think — yeah, cold noodles really are the right way to finish a Korean BBQ meal.

And they even topped it with half a boiled egg — little touches like this are so touching...
