Gangneung bakery café for mini kabocha bread and matcha pound: Baegya

In short

Baegya Coffee is a large ocean-view bakery café on Haean-ro, right in front of Gyeongpodae Beach in Gangneung, Gangwon, using floors 1 to 3 plus a rooftop. Visited as the last stop of a Gangneung trip, Baegya Coffee offers free parking, and after a look around the 4th-floor rooftop, 3rd floor and 2nd floor, the order was an americano, mini kabocha (sweet pumpkin) bread and butter pound matcha on the stepped 2nd floor with the sea in full view. Every floor at Baegya Coffee looks out on the water and the bread selection is wide, so it suits anyone who wants an ocean view and a bakery in one stop.

Baegya Coffee, an ocean-view café in Gyeongpodae, Gangneung

Ocean-view café Baegya Coffee at Gyeongpodae, Gangneung

Where is Baegya Coffee, and what are its hours?

Baegya Coffee is a Gyeongpodae café / big Gangneung café. The address is 607 Haean-ro, 1st–3rd floor, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do, hours are daily 09:00–21:00 (last order 20:30), and parking is available.

Is parking at Baegya Coffee free?

Baegya Coffee's parking lot is free, park wherever you like! It's the lot right in front, with the sea in view.

There's also a parking lot behind the building.

If you park behind the building, you enter straight into the 2nd floor of the store! Ordering is done on the 1st floor.

True to being a big Gangneung bakery café, Baegya Coffee had a really wide range of bakery items!

There was so much variety I ended up circling the case once, twice, trying to pick something!

I actually came here looking for an ocean-view café in Gangneung, but if you're also looking for a big Gangneung bakery, I think Baegya Coffee, famous as a Gyeongpodae café, fits the bill.

There are a lot of cafés around Gangmun Beach, but I don't think there was a café with an ocean view right in front of Gyeongpodae Beach — so this is really great as a Gyeongpodae café. Ocean view plus bread!

Inside the 1st floor: floor-to-ceiling windows

Every floor has its own self-service station set up, and true to being a big Gangneung bakery café, everything is ready for takeout too!

On the 1st floor you can order, and the moment you step outside the door — the sea! Plus the floor-to-ceiling windows make it feel incredibly open!

The 4th-floor rooftop is a no-kids zone

Skip the 2nd and 3rd floors and go straight to the rooftop? Since it's such a huge Gangneung café, I took the elevator to the very top floor and worked my way down while looking around!

Not sure which spot would be best, so I figured I'd properly enjoy this Gangneung ocean-view café hahahahaha. If it's an ocean view, I'm always in🩵

The rooftop operates as a no-kids zone. I guess it's because it's outdoors and could be a bit dangerous.

I think this might be the biggest café among all the Gyeongpodae cafés, and having an elevator made things really convenient.

Best of all, there's a spot in the elevator to set down your tray — the sense of detail at this Gyeongpo café is insane!

At Baegya Coffee, the Gangneung ocean-view café, every seat has a sea view!

I ended up here while looking for an ocean-view café for the last stop of my Gangneung trip, and I'm so glad I found this place!

I kept wanting to look at the sea, but sitting right in front of it got pretty windy, so I wanted somewhere quiet where I could keep watching the sea in peace!

I came here while looking for a Gyeongpodae café and ended up at this ocean-view spot — I really wish I'd come here in the middle of my trip too.

Stepped 2nd-floor seating and group tables

I chose the 2nd floor! At this Gangneung ocean-view café you can see the sea from any floor, but the 2nd floor has a step-up in elevation, so you get an even higher vantage point to take it all in!

They also said group seating is available, from a minimum of 6 up to 12 people!

It's really spacious, so it seems great for groups too.

Mini kabocha bread and butter pound matcha, tasted

This is the shot I took from my seat — I got to drink coffee with a view like this!

I ordered three things: an americano, mini kabocha (sweet pumpkin) bread, and butter pound matcha — look how packed with kabocha it is!

The butter pound matcha is unbelievably dense too! Pure fudgy texture.

If I come to Gangneung again, I'll definitely stop by Baegya Coffee. Being an ocean-view café, I loved it so much!
