In short

Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch is a pork rib restaurant on Gangseo-ro 54-gil in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, within walking distance of Balsan Station. The order was 600g of marinated grilled pork with rice and naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), grilled at the table by staff, and the salty, subtly sweet marinade went well with both the rice and the noodles. With a spacious hall and private rooms, Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch also works for family gatherings and group dinners.

Marinated pork rib table setting at Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch

I've been strangely craving marinated pork ribs lately, so I went to Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch near Balsan Station.

There are plenty of BBQ places around Balsan, but this one had a clean atmosphere and staff who grill the meat for you, so it seemed like an easy, comfortable meal.

We went all out that day with 600g of marinated pork ribs plus rice and naengmyeon, and everything from the meat to the meals was satisfying haha. It's especially good for eating with several people, so let me introduce it to anyone looking for a Balsan Station pork rib restaurant or a family gathering spot in Magok.

Menu and what to order: 600g marinated pork ribs, rice, naengmyeon

Our main order that day was the marinated pork ribs, 600g! Since we came for marinated galbi, we ordered plenty of meat and added rice and naengmyeon to go with it haha.

What side dishes come with the pork ribs?

Before the meat arrives, the basic side dishes are set out first, and it was nice that there was a good variety to go with the meat.

Marinated meat can get slightly too sweet or heavy after a while, but eating it with the side dishes in between refreshed my palate so I could enjoy it all the way through.

Marinated pork ribs grilled at the table by staff

Above all, it was really convenient that the staff at Ihwajeong Galbi Myeongga Magok-Balsan Branch grill the meat for you. Marinated meat can burn easily if you look away for even a moment, so you'd normally have to keep flipping it and watching the grill.

Here, the staff grill it to perfect eating condition for you, so we could just chat with each other and eat comfortably. That seems even better for family gatherings or group dinners.

The nicely browned marinated pork ribs looked glossy and made me want to dig in right away haha.

One bite in, the meat was tender and the marinade had soaked in well all the way through — delicious.

Pork ribs with rice: how the marinade tastes

Ihwajeong's marinated pork ribs aren't just aggressively sweet — the marinade is salty with a subtle sweetness that naturally makes you crave rice! So I was glad we ordered rice too. Putting a piece of well-grilled pork rib on warm rice sounds simple, but that combo is honestly the best haha.

Pork ribs with naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles)

After eating a good amount of meat, we moved on to naengmyeon (cold noodles) too. You really can't skip naengmyeon when eating pork ribs haha. After the sweet, salty marinated ribs, a cool bite of naengmyeon cleared my palate completely, which just made me want to go back to the meat — an endless loop...

Marinated pork ribs piled on top of naengmyeon

Piling the marinated pork ribs on top of the naengmyeon worked especially well — the rich marinade flavor of the meat paired nicely with the cool noodles. Eating it with rice felt hearty, while eating it with naengmyeon was a completely different combo, so I was glad we ordered both.

Pear sherbet for dessert

After finishing the rice and naengmyeon, I really felt full, but they brought out pear sherbet as a dessert at the end.

♥ The final dessert was cool pear sherbet

There was still some marinade flavor lingering in my mouth after all that meat, but one bite of the cold, crunchy pear sherbet cleaned my palate right up — perfect for dessert haha.
