Cheonan weeknight mideoh sashimi and seafood stew for 2: Donghae Bada
In short
Donghae Bada Hoetjip is a sashimi and seafood restaurant on the main road in front of Segwang Apartments in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan. On a weeknight after work, two diners ordered the assorted sashimi and the seafood stew set for two, which brought seasonal mideoh (croaker) and tuna plus a stew loaded with blue crab and abalone, and the complimentary starters alone were enough to set a drinking table. With roomy parking front and back and a group room at the rear, Donghae Bada Hoetjip works well for both company dinners and family gatherings.

Today I'm introducing Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong. Even on a weeknight evening the place was nearly full — not just families but plenty of company dinner groups too, making it a great spot for gatherings. Here's the parking situation, the menu, and my honest review.

Where is Donghae Bada Hoetjip, and is there parking?

Donghae Bada Hoetjip sits right on the main road in front of Sekwang Apartment. You can enter from both the front and back of the building, so it's easy to reach by car.
What I liked most was how much parking space there was. Parking in Dujeong-dong isn't easy in general, but with lots front and back of the restaurant, I could visit without any parking worries.
Inside Donghae Bada Hoetjip and the group room

Just like the parking, the interior seating was generous too. You can't really see it in the photos, but there's a group room further inside that looked great for company dinners or larger group gatherings.
If you're visiting as a group, calling ahead to reserve the room would make things much smoother.
Menu and drinks at Donghae Bada Hoetjip

The menu was more varied than I expected — beyond assorted sashimi, you could order salt-grilled king prawns, lobster, pomfret sashimi, and squid mulhoe (cold raw seafood soup). Some items, like mideoh, are seasonal additions.

For drinks, alongside the usual soju and beer, they also had sake on hand — so you can pair it with whatever you order, to your taste.
What complimentary starters come with the sashimi?

The banchan included seaweed soup, salad, jeon, boiled pork, grilled fish, and beondegi. Every single one paired well with drinks, so my appetite was already going before the sashimi even arrived, haha.
The seaweed soup in particular was a clear broth seasoned only with salted shrimp, and the refreshing flavor was excellent. We came straight after work for dinner and were genuinely starving, so having such a satisfying spread of banchan right from the start was a great feeling.
Assorted sashimi with seasonal mideoh (croaker)

We ordered the assorted sashimi and seafood stew set for two. That day's sashimi platter was made up of mideoh, flounder, dodari, and tuna. Getting to taste seasonal mideoh sashimi as well made it even more satisfying.
The tuna especially exceeded expectations. Even though this isn't a specialty tuna restaurant, it was moist and tender — wrapped in seaweed and dipped in sesame oil sauce, it was genuinely delicious. Personally, it was the combination I enjoyed most 😊

Seafood stew for two: portion size and table-side prep
Next came the seafood stew. Even as a set for two, the portion was huge — I wondered if we could even finish it all 😂 The stew was loaded with crab, squid, shrimp, abalone, whelk, octopus leg, and roe, all piled generously over bean sprouts.

A staff member cut everything into bite-sized pieces for us, which made it much easier to enjoy. The whelk, abalone, and octopus were all tender rather than chewy, and the crab was packed full of meat — very satisfying.

I don't usually go for roe, but the combination of the savory roe and bean sprouts was so good that the roe was genuinely delicious that day. It was plump, and overall the seafood felt fresh throughout.
Why Donghae Bada Hoetjip suits a Dujeong-dong company dinner
That was my review after visiting Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong. We went as just two people, but the set gets even better value as the group grows, so I think it would be even more satisfying for a family gathering or a company dinner.
From the generous parking to the hearty banchan to the fresh sashimi and seafood stew, it was an all-around satisfying meal. If you're looking for a good sashimi and seafood spot in Dujeong-dong, I'd recommend giving this place a try. 😊
