This is Jjinimom.
The weather's been so nice lately and I was craving something good, so I decided to properly enjoy raw fish and seafood this time. We ordered the assorted raw fish (modeumhoe) and the seafood stew (haemul-jjim) 2-person set. Just raw fish felt a little lacking, and I wanted seafood too, so ordering both the assorted raw fish and the stew together turned out to be just right.

Where is Donghae Bada Hoetjip, what are the hours, and is parking easy?
Donghae Bada Hoetjip is at 5-11 Neulpureun 6-gil, 1st floor, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, and it's open from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM. If you've been looking for a place to eat around Dujeong-dong, you've probably heard of this one.
Parking always feels like a hassle when going out for raw fish, but Donghae Bada Hoetjip was easy to park at, which I appreciated.

Inside the hall: seating at Donghae Bada Hoetjip and is it family-friendly?
Walking into Donghae Bada Hoetjip, there were regular tables as well as seating for larger groups, so it looked like a great spot for a family meal or a get-together with friends! The space was bigger than I expected, and the tables were spaced comfortably enough to eat at ease.

The sashimi and seafood stew set for two: how thick were the slices?
'Dingine's pick' assorted raw fish and seafood stew 2-person set
Once we sat down and looked over the menu, we didn't hesitate — assorted raw fish and seafood stew for two! On top of that, we got a king crab leg tempura from a receipt review.
The assorted raw fish we'd been waiting for arrived. Several kinds of fish arranged neatly on one plate looked really appetizing.

It's a little disappointing when the slices are too thin, but these were cut nicely thick, so the texture was great with the first bite.
One piece dipped lightly in soy sauce with a touch of wasabi, another dunked in chojang (vinegared chili sauce)! When I wanted to taste the fish's clean flavor I went light with soy sauce, and when I wanted something sweet and tangy I dipped it right into the chojang — I kept reaching for more.

Personally, I think that's part of the fun of raw fish — trying it different ways like this.

What banchan side dishes come with the meal?
Donghae Bada Hoetjip's standard side dishes (banchan) range from light bites to warm dishes. At a raw fish restaurant, the main menu matters, but part of the fun is also seeing what comes with it.

Before we knew it, tasting our way through them one by one, the table was completely full.

Haemul-jjim taste and portion: is one order enough for two people?
The other main dish of the day, the seafood stew! We ordered it to eat alongside the raw fish, and it came out more generous than expected, which was satisfying.

With all kinds of seafood mixed in, there was fun in picking through it, and the seasoning was spicy with a deep savory kick — the kind of flavor that would go great with rice or as a drinking snack.

Going back and forth — a bite of raw fish, then a bite of the stew, then back to raw fish — worked better than I expected. Eating it as a pair, the menu felt varied and there was plenty of food.

A place like this is great for two, but it'd be even better with a bigger group so you can order more dishes and share. It felt like a good spot for a family meal, and just as fitting for a drink and a chat with friends.

Is Donghae Bada Hoetjip the right sashimi restaurant in Dujeong-dong for you?
We came that day mainly craving raw fish, but with the seafood stew added in, it felt like a proper full meal! These days, a lot of the well-known spots in Cheonan specialize in just one thing, so a place that lets you enjoy raw fish and seafood dishes together felt like a nice change.
✔️ If you're in the mood for raw fish in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, I think Donghae Bada Hoetjip is a solid option. Especially if, like us, you want to enjoy assorted raw fish and seafood stew together, the combination should be satisfying.

Enjoying the raw fish cleanly on its own and the seafood stew with its spicy seasoning meant we got to enjoy two different styles in one meal. If you want to enjoy a generous serving of raw fish and seafood in Dujeong-dong, give it a try.

I'm already thinking of coming back next time to try other menu items :)
