Last week, I went to Ilsan to shop at Costco and had a delicious lunch in Hwajeong, Goyang. I visited Min Cook Dasima (민쿡다시마), a long-established Japanese restaurant in Hwajeong, Goyang that has been there for many years.

It is also the first place that comes to mind when I am looking for neat, deeply flavored Japanese food near Hwajeong Station. This time, I am sharing my experience with its great-value weekday lunch special.

Lunch near Hwajeong Station: Min Cook Dasima's sushi set
This is Min Cook Dasima, known as Goyang's first sushi restaurant. They say kelp is the foundation of every flavor here, and the sushi was honestly so delicious! The quality was excellent, and Min Cook Dasima's sushi was truly good :)

There were displays at the entrance where you could learn about Min Cook Dasima's history, which was fun to look at and made me even more curious about the food. After eating, I found myself thinking, “Ah, so this is why it tastes so good.”

A polished atmosphere with the presence of a Baeknyeon Gage
Luckily, we got in without waiting. The interior is clean and modern with the feel of a Japanese restaurant, making it a lovely choice for bringing parents, having a polished lunch with acquaintances, or going on a date.

Living up to its reputation as a Baeknyeon Gage (a government-recognized long-running store) certified by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and as Goyang's first sushi restaurant, its cleanliness and the staff's kindness stood out.

There was even a master artisan plaque for Min Cook Dasima's owner, along with a certificate recognizing them as a World New Knowledge Person. This place is especially known for its kelp-aging know-how, which maximizes the savory flavor of both the rice and fish, so I was really excited before the food even arrived.

I waited while having the porridge that came out first. I do not usually even eat porridge, but it was tasty. It disappeared in a flash as a little bite :)

Weekday lunch sushi set and special assorted sushi
There were so many things I wanted to eat! I ordered the popular lunch special, available only at a discounted price during weekday lunch hours and not on weekends. I also ordered the signature special assorted sushi because I really wanted lots of sushi :)
Weekday lunch sushi set
The weekday lunch sushi set is ₩25,000. It is an incredibly good-value menu for what is included. Sushi generously arranged with fresh seasonal fish, live fish, and salmon comes as a neat full set with warm udon, tempura, salad, and other sides. The rice grains were plump and springy, and everything was well aged, so the harmony between the rice and fish got better with every bite.

12-piece special assorted sushi
The 12-piece special assorted sushi is ₩21,000. If you want to enjoy a more varied selection of premium cuts, this is absolutely the menu I recommend. Every single piece was delicious, to the point that I wanted more.

High-quality ingredients where freshness is everything—tuna, eel, fresh salmon, and seasonal live fish—were piled on generously.

The fish slices were wonderfully thick, giving them a fantastic chew, and their clean savory flavor filled my mouth without any fishiness.

The futomaki was huge, too. It was so big that I gave mine to my husband—your mouth would practically burst trying to take it in one bite.

What makes Min Cook Dasima special
Min Cook Dasima's biggest strength is that its kelp-aging method brings out the fish's pleasantly chewy texture and deep flavor. The rice was seasoned just right rather than too strongly, so I could enjoy every last piece without getting tired of it.

The side dishes that came with it also felt fresh ingredient by ingredient, while the tempura stayed crisp for a long time and completed the clean meal beautifully.

One-hour parking support at E-Mart Hwajeong
We came by car, so we parked at the E-Mart right in front and received a one-hour discount voucher. The building directly across from Min Cook Dasima is E-Mart, so it is close and convenient.

Min Cook Dasima is a restaurant selected as a Goyang tourism dining spot, and after eating there, I could see why. If you want a generous, polished weekday lunch near Hwajeong Station, Min Cook Dasima's weekday lunch special is a total must-try! It has the flavor, atmosphere, and value, plus the convenience of one-hour parking support at the E-Mart across the street.

It was so nice to have a delicious lunch near Hwajeong Station in a pleasant place on a beautiful day. I think anyone who loves sushi will definitely be satisfied! It was a feast for the eyes and the mouth—a sushi spot near Hwajeong Station that I recommend :)
