Chipotle pulled pork fries at a Songdo mall fry shop: Angry Potato

I heard an Angry Potato pop-up opened at Hyundai Outlet Songdo, so I took Jane, who loves fries more than anything, to check it out. We went on a weekday evening, and the menu turned out to be more varied than I expected — fries, chicken, hot dogs, all in one place — so it worked out well as a simple meal with a kid.

Here's my review of Angry Potato Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch after trying the Deep Crunch Chicken Box, the Big Crunch Hot Dog, and the Chipotle Pulled Pork, plus all 9 free sauces 😊

Angry Potato is in the basement FOOD SQUARE of Hyundai Outlet Songdo. We parked at the outlet and walked over. Heading further in, you'll pass Burger King, and the shop is right after it, so it wasn't hard to find.

Maybe because it's a newly opened branch, everything felt clean, and since it's an open kitchen, you could watch the food being made. The yellow Angry Potato graphic was visible from a distance too, giving it a hip vibe 💛

It's right in front of the food court, so it was easy to sit nearby while waiting for the food. There was even a place to wash your hands while waiting, which was nice. It's a convenient spot to stop by when you're browsing at the outlet and get hungry, so if you're hunting for restaurants at Hyundai Outlet Songdo, it's worth checking out 😊

The free sauce bar: 9 sauces at no extra cost

Angry Potato Songdo apparently peels and cuts its potatoes fresh in-house before frying. Looking at the menu board out front, there were sturdy raw potatoes on display, with a sign reading "These potatoes will soon become fries," which I thought was cute :D

Using 100% fresh potatoes gives the fries a different feel from the usual frozen ones, and best of all, they come out freshly fried ⭐ What I liked even more was that all 9 sauces are free ⭐⭐⭐

The 9 sauces were Diablo Hot, Chipotle, Sriracha Mayo, Wasabi Mayo, White Cream, Sweet Chili, Chicago Grill, Mustard, and Ketchup. There's a dedicated FREE sauce bar where you pick whatever you want yourself, so even a single order of fries can be enjoyed in several different flavors 🤍 Jane loves fries, and it was adorable watching her agonize over which sauce to dip them in.

7pm on a weekday: mini burger skewers already sold out

What we ordered that day were the Deep Crunch Chicken Box, the Big Crunch Hot Dog, and the Chipotle Pulled Pork.

I originally wanted to order the Deep Crunch Box to try the mini burger skewers, but since we visited past 7pm on a weekday, we were told they were sold out ㅠㅠ A little disappointing, but I decided to try them next time and picked something else instead.

Ordering several menu items at once let us try fries as well as chicken and a hot dog. We came for a light snack but ended up picking a bit of everything ♥‿♥ Given this kind of lineup, it also seemed like a good spot for anyone looking for a snack-meal combo while restaurant-hunting near the outlet.

What comes in the Deep Crunch Chicken Box

The chewy potato skewers

What caught Jane's eye in the Deep Crunch Chicken Box was the chewy potato skewers. They're crispy outside and stretchy-chewy inside — apparently the crispiness is stronger right after cooking, while the chewiness comes out more as time passes. Jane said they were tasty and even dipped them in the mac and cheese ෆෆ If you're with a kid who loves potato dishes, these are worth ordering too.

Hot Crunch Chicken with the fries

The Deep Crunch Chicken Box came with 5 pieces of Hot Crunch Chicken, fries, mac and cheese, ranch tartar, and pickles. The Hot Crunch Chicken is made from hand-trimmed boneless chicken thigh, fried crispy outside and juicy inside. The outside was crispy and the inside stayed moist, making it good to share with a kid too.

Dipping each piece in a different sauce from the 9 options, the chicken disappeared fast :) I kept reaching for the chipotle, sriracha mayo, and sweet chili sauces — those were my favorites.

Dipping into the thick mac and cheese and the ranch tartar sauce was also savory and delicious, and the pickles in between cut the richness nicely.

And of course, the fries. Fried from fresh potatoes peeled in-house, they had that clean, plain potato flavor, and being fluffy and warm, Jane loved them. Switching sauces one by one made the same fries taste a little different each time.

Having all 9 sauces free was definitely a plus. If you're visiting with a group, it's great because everyone can pick their own favorite sauce. This is exactly why it's known as a top fries spot, I thought.

Chipotle Pulled Pork fries: too spicy for a child

Personally, my favorite dish was the Chipotle Pulled Pork. It's made with chipotle sauce, pulled pork, jalapeños, and cheddar cheese, and it has a bit of a kick, so Jane couldn't eat it because it was too spicy. The staff had mentioned it was a little spicy, so we ordered it for the adults, and once I tried it, it turned out to be exactly my kind of flavor :)

Eaten together with the fries, the spicy chipotle sauce, cheese, and pulled pork blended nicely, and that hint of heat was really good. It went well with the plain fries too, so I kept reaching for more. If I come back, I'd definitely order the chipotle pulled pork and fries combo again. If you're visiting with a kid who can't handle spicy food, the plain fries combo or the whole mozzarella cheese sticks would be a safer bet.

The 25cm Big Crunch Hot Dog, taken home to eat

The Big Crunch Hot Dog intrigued me because of its 25cm length. It's a long hot dog stuffed generously with chili's chicken and mac and cheese. The nicely spicy chili chicken combined with the thick mac and cheese gave it a proper American-style feel.

Since we were already full from the other dishes, we took the Big Crunch Hot Dog home. After putting Jane to bed, I got hungry again and heated the hot dog in the air fryer — the slight richness paired well with the spiciness, and it was delicious :)

Packing it up was easy to do yourself, and you can also buy sauce cups separately if you want to bring extra sauce home.

A handy stop when shopping at Songdo outlet makes you hungry

While searching for restaurants at Hyundai Outlet Songdo, I discovered Angry Potato, and beyond fries, the variety of chicken and hot dog options made it fun to mix and match. With a kid who loves fries like Jane, choosing what to order wasn't hard either. Best of all, being able to use all 9 sauces as much as you like made it fun to pick and choose according to taste :)

If you're shopping at Hyundai Outlet Songdo and want something quick to eat, or if you love fries, it's worth stopping by. I'm a little disappointed I missed the mini burger skewers, so next time I'll try to visit a bit earlier before they sell out. From fries to chewy potato skewers, chicken, and hot dogs, Angry Potato had plenty to pick from — next time I'm at Hyundai Outlet Songdo, I'll definitely stop by again with Jane for more fries 🤍 To help digest and enjoy the full meal, we also took a walk around Triple Street :)
