Songdo sushi restaurant with tamagokatsu and a kids' set: Sushi Doku

Shopping at Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo often leads to hunting for a Songdo restaurant where the kids can eat dinner too, so this time we went to Sushi Doku The Songdo with the kids. What I liked was that alongside sushi for the adults who love it, the kids' menu was solidly put together. Best of all, it's easy to visit together with Songhyeona, so I want to introduce it as a great spot for shopping and eating with kids in Songdo.

Where to park for Sushi Doku The Songdo

Sushi Doku The Songdo is inside the Onestar building in Songdo, so we parked in Onestar's underground lot. When I visited, B3 was relatively open, so parking wasn't difficult. You can also park at Songhyeona and use the connecting walkway over to Onestar, which makes it convenient to plan alongside Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo (Songhyeona).

You could shop at Songhyeona first and then have dinner at Sushi Doku, or do it the other way around — either order works fine as a course.

Why is there already a wait at 5:10pm?

We set our dinner a bit early and arrived at Sushi Doku The Songdo around 5:10pm. But there were more customers than expected, and seats were already full, so we had to put our name down too. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes before getting in.

A long wait can be tough with kids in tow, but luckily Sushi Doku The Songdo is directly connected to Songhyeona, so we could spend the wait looking around Songhyeona. After putting our name on the list, we browsed Songhyeona and just headed back once the KakaoTalk notification came in — the wait ended up being more manageable than I expected.

In practice, there were quite a lot of customers even before dinner hour, so if you're planning to visit, it might be good to go a little early and put your name down. Especially if you're visiting with kids like we did, I'd recommend putting your name down first and browsing Songhyeona while you wait.

Inside Sushi Doku The Songdo and the private-feeling back tables

Walking into Sushi Doku The Songdo, the space was on the darker side overall. Rather than a bright, casual sushi spot, the soft lighting actually gave it more atmosphere. The table we sat at, in particular, was toward the back and felt like its own private space. Eating with kids, I quite liked not having to worry much about the surrounding tables.

It seemed like a good spot for a family meal after shopping at Songhyeona, or just for sitting comfortably with kids when you want an easier meal.

With two kids, I debated ordering two kids' sets at first but worried it would be too much, so we got just one — and it turned out to be plenty for both kindergarten-age kids to share. The portion of tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) especially was more generous than expected, enough for both kids together.

When eating out with kids, you end up checking what the kids can eat before even looking at the adult menu, right? On that front, I was glad Sushi Doku The Songdo had a properly put-together kids' menu.

Is one kids' set enough for two children?

This is the kids' set we ordered at Sushi Doku The Songdo. It came with dishes that are easy for kids to eat, so there was little pressure over menu choices even visiting with a kid who isn't great at eating sushi.

Above all, the tonkatsu portion was quite large. Our two kindergarten-age kids shared it, and it was plentiful enough that I was glad we'd only ordered one. When looking for Songdo restaurants with kids, I personally put a lot of weight on this kind of kids' menu setup, and on that front it was quite satisfying.

How was the premium sushi set at Sushi Doku The Songdo?

Now for the sushi the adults ate. First, the premium sushi set.

At a glance the sushi lineup was varied, which made it fun to pick through piece by piece. Tasting each type one at a time, I could feel the different textures and flavors. What stood out most that day was the salmon — the pieces were really substantial in size. Each piece was quite big and looked appetizing, so anyone who loves salmon would probably be very satisfied.

What comes with the flounder set

We also ordered the flounder set for my husband.

If you like flounder, this is a clean, satisfying way to enjoy it, and I liked it even more since the set came with udon, steamed egg, and salad. My husband loves flounder, so he finished it in no time. Overall, the sushi lineup across everything we ordered that day was satisfying.

There's one more thing that stuck with me. Sushi Doku The Songdo was offering otoro (fatty tuna) sushi as a free perk for writing a Naver review.

One of the perks of Sushi Doku The Songdo is definitely how well it pairs into a schedule with Songhyeona. You could shop at Songhyeona with the kids and come down for dinner in the evening, or eat at Sushi Doku first and then go shopping at Songhyeona. Especially when you're out with kids all day, it's much more convenient to have a meal spot within your shopping route rather than somewhere far away.

Visiting Sushi Doku The Songdo with two kids this time, what I liked most was how well-put-together the kids' menu was. Adults get to enjoy a variety of sushi while kids get a filling meal from the kids' set, which made it an easy choice for a family meal out. If you're planning a weekend course of shopping at Songhyeona plus dinner, I'd recommend stopping by this Songdo, Incheon restaurant at least once.
