First impressions of Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch as a group dinner spot

Today I visited Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch for a low-key office dinner haha. The evening weather has gotten pretty cool lately, so they had the windows wide open. Even though we were eating indoors, it felt a bit like outdoor dining, which I actually loved hehe. We wanted to sit by the window too, but it was already full so we sadly couldn't get a spot ㅠㅠ

When it's a group dinner, who ends up grilling the meat is kind of a big deal, right? Usually one person is stuck grilling the whole time and barely gets to eat. But here, the staff grill everything deliciously from start to finish. I'll quietly say this is a great office dinner spot where nobody has to play the grilling-duty guessing game haha.

Table setting: coin wet wipes and cutlery in the drawer

Looking at the table, they had these round coin-shaped wet wipes ready. At first I wasn't sure what it was, but once you add a bit of water, it quickly expands into a proper wet wipe haha. It's a small thing but oddly fascinating, so I kept watching it happen. Spoons and chopsticks are kept in a drawer under the table, just so you know!

What comes with the Oh~Gamdong Set: five sauces and free minari

We started off with the Oh~Gamdong Set as our first order. Ssosam 208 lets you add minari (water dropwort) for free, so if you love minari, you should definitely order it with your meat. Sadly no one at our table was a minari fan, so we skipped it haha. The basic sauces included salt, makjang, cumin salt, ssamjang, and wasabi soy sauce, among others — a nice variety to choose from depending on the meat or your mood.

Side dishes at Ssosam 208, including rice noodle soup

This was the first time I've seen a Korean BBQ restaurant serve rice noodle soup as a basic side?! As a rice noodle lover, I happily dug in haha. Having a warm broth first got me properly ready to eat meat. They also served myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves) and lettuce wraps, which no Korean BBQ meal should be without.

How the staff grill every cut from start to finish

At first they set kimchi and bean sprouts on the grill, and once the meat was cooking, they'd neatly add seasoning sauce into a designated spot on the grill haha. We just sat back and watched the staff grill everything for us.

The staff grilled each piece of meat to perfection and stacked it neatly for us to eat — having the meat all lined up made it look even more appetizing.

Meat someone else grills for you is always the best, right?ㅋㅋㅋ I kept going with my favorite combo of wasabi soy sauce and myeongi namul. The savory meat with the sharp kick of wasabi and the salty myeongi namul just kept me eating. I couldn't drink, which was a little sad, but the meat was so good I just cried inwardly instead...

Adding hangjeongsal and kkeopdegi: how is the pork skin texture?

After finishing the Oh~Gamdong Set, we ordered extra pork neck (hangjeongsal) and pork skin (kkeopdegi). The moment I saw them grilling the pork skin, I thought, these people really know what they're doing — they pressed it down firmly so it wouldn't curl or splatter while grilling. I meant to take a photo of the finished, perfectly grilled skin, but I got too distracted eating and forgot to snap it haha.

The pork skin was just the right thickness — not too thin, not too thick — with a chewy texture that made it seriously delicious. Coated in soybean powder, it had extra nuttiness that kept me reaching for more. Even though I was already pretty full, I couldn't give up on the pork skin haha.

Why Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch suits a group dinner in Baegot

What I liked most about Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch was that the staff grill the meat themselves, so you can relax and chat while eating. With the windows open, cooler evenings even had an outdoor-dining vibe, and the spread — from the basic rice noodle soup to the variety of sauces and side dishes — was solid.

Especially for group dinners or gatherings, not having to designate someone to grill is a real advantage. If you're looking for an office dinner spot in Baegot, or a Korean BBQ place where the staff grill for you, Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch is worth a visit!
