In short

Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch is a pork belly and pork neck grill restaurant in the Baegot central commercial district in Siheung, Gyeonggi. Visiting on a Sunday evening at 6:20pm with family, the writer ordered the marbled pork belly set (₩49,000) and pork kimchi stew, with staff grilling everything down to the kimchi and bean sprouts. Even the pork belly-loving kid ate well, making it a satisfying family outing at a spot usually reserved for company dinners.

Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch is a Siheung meat restaurant I've visited many times for company dinners, and I've always eaten well there. The colleagues who came with me liked it too, and it's left me with good memories, so it's become a spot I often pick for company dinners.

This time I wanted my pork belly-loving kid to try it, so I went with the family. Here's a record of the meal we all enjoyed, in case it's useful for anyone looking for a good meat restaurant in Siheung.

A lively restaurant even on Sunday evening

We arrived around 6:20pm on a Sunday and the place was nearly full. Luckily one or two seats were open so we got in without waiting, but not long after, people started lining up to wait.

Entrance of Ssosam 208 Baegot with the '208 degrees' slogan

The blue sign says 'Ssosam' means 'soju and samgyeopsal (pork belly),' and there's a line about '208 degrees, the temperature that determines the taste,' which explains the name Ssosam 208 — a place that clearly takes its meat seriously.

With the weather nice, the restaurant had its doors wide open, giving a great sense of openness, and the lively atmosphere of customers enjoying their meals was infectious. The smell of grilling meat drifting around made us eager to eat too.

Dedicated grill plate at Ssosam 208 with separate section for grilling kimchi

The dedicated grill plate had a section for grilling kimchi separated from where the cooked meat is placed. I liked that the setup let you keep the meat and side dishes distinct.

The basic table setup came out neatly with lettuce wraps, wild garlic leaves (myeongi-namul), minced garlic sauce and various other sauces including salted fermented anchovy (melchi-jeot), Maldon salt, seasoned bean sprouts, and kimchi.

Complimentary spicy kimchi rice noodle soup

Shortly after, a complimentary kimchi rice noodle soup came out — nice to have that spicy broth while waiting. It was good for taking the edge off hunger before the meat was cooked, and we were told each table gets one free refill.

An easy meal, thanks to staff-grilled meat

Once the grill plate heated up, the meat, asparagus, and onion came out. A staff member grilled everything from start to finish, so we could just sit back and wait for our meal comfortably.

I actually consider myself pretty good at grilling meat myself, but the staff member's hands were clearly much more skilled.

They laid the well-cooked meat neatly to the side and cut the onions into bite-sized pieces. What stood out most was watching them grill the seasoned bean sprouts and kimchi.

They poured in a generous amount of what looked like sesame or perilla oil, sizzled it all together, and finished with a sprinkle of seasoning powder — eaten with the meat, it was really delicious.

Not having to grill or cut anything ourselves meant we could focus on eating together as a family, and the wait never felt long.

Pork belly and grilled kimchi, a great combo

The well-grilled pork belly was delicious even with just a light dip in Maldon salt. The meat itself was good, but grilled so well it was even more satisfying.

Wrapping the meat and grilled kimchi in wild garlic leaves with a bit of minced garlic sauce rolled up together was also great.

We enjoyed it in different ways, dipping into the salted fermented anchovy or switching between the other sauces.

The family ate well, and I was glad I brought them along. It was even more special enjoying with my family a Siheung Baegot restaurant I'd been satisfied with at every company dinner.

The pork kimchi stew is worth ordering too

I ordered the pork kimchi stew to sip on between bites of meat, and it turned out even better than expected. It alone would've been enough to finish a whole bowl of rice.

It had generous chunks of thick, tender pork that were easy to eat. The aged kimchi flavor and tofu were also delicious — I only meant to order it as a light side, but I kept reaching for it.

Good for company dinners and family outings alike

Ssosam 208 Siheung Baegot Branch, a place I'd visited many times for company dinners, was just as satisfying this time with the family. Staff grilled the meat and side dishes so well that we could eat comfortably, and my pork belly-loving kid ate happily too, making me glad I brought them. From the grilled kimchi and bean sprouts alongside the pork belly to the pork kimchi stew that exceeded expectations, it was a genuinely memorable meal.

I've tried several meat restaurants in Baegot, but this is one of the Siheung Baegot spots I keep coming back to. If you're looking for a good meat restaurant in Siheung, I'd recommend it for a company dinner or a family meal out. I think we'll be back here often whenever we're craving good grilled meat.
