Rare pork neck meat and crispy skin at Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol

In short

Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork and seafood restaurant in Guwol-dong, Namdong, Incheon. The pork set of 600g came with samgyeopsal, moksal, dwitgogi (pork neck trim), hangjeongsal, galmaegisal, and pork skin, served alongside doenjang stew and bibimbap, with dwitgogi's chewy "kkodeulsal" bit and skin grilled without splattering standing out most. Simmered myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) with garlic and chili for dipping made this a solid spot for a post-work meat craving.

Today I'm introducing a Guwol-dong restaurant favorite, Euljiro Charcoal Grill. I got off work hungry and craving meat, and that day specifically I was craving chewy dwitgogi (pork neck trim). There aren't many places selling dwitgogi these days, so I was happy to visit~

A restaurant selling meat and seafood together

Here's the menu board out front — surprisingly, this place sells meat and seafood together! They seem to manage the seafood really well to keep it fresh~

Here's the interior~ The place is pretty big and spacious, so it seemed like it'd be good for a work dinner or group gathering!! Best of all, when you're busy and getting hot eating meat, having wide spacing between tables made it comfortable to eat.

The menu board and how to order

Here's the Euljiro Charcoal Grill menu board! I came here for dwitgogi but ended up ordering the pork set haha. The meat is genuinely cheap and there are tons of varieties!! From meat to seafood to side dishes, there was so much to choose from that it took me a while to decide. You order directly using the kiosk placed at each table!

There's also a really wide variety of seafood like scallops, razor clams, abalone, sea squirt, and they said this seafood is brought in fresh every single day!! The owner seemed proud to sell fresh seafood~ This time I only ate meat, but next time I'm definitely trying the seafood too.

Sign explaining meat order units and how to eat

All meats can be ordered by the 100g unit, and they say the radish salad tastes best eaten while still icy. It also says seafood is always fresh, and if you get tired of meat, grilled mackerel or seafood knife-cut noodle soup are perfect for finishing off with drinks haha.

The self-serve bar and myeoljeot

They bring out all the basic side dishes, and if you need more, you can use the self-serve bar! Wrap greens, banchan, and various sauces are all set up there.

Bowl of myeoljeot with garlic and chili added

I scooped up plenty of my favorite thing to eat with meat — myeoljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) — with garlic and chili on top. You know how amazing it is to simmer it and dip your meat in it, right?? Can't live without myeoljeot ㅠㅠ!!!!

As basics, they bring out wrap greens, radish salad, seasoned lettuce and perilla leaves, onion sauce, ssamjang, and salt! The meat also came out really fast, which I loved.

What comes in the pork set

The pork set at Euljiro Charcoal Grill comes with a variety of cuts — samgyeopsal, moksal, dwitgogi, hangjeongsal, galmaegisal, and pork skin — and the meat looked so fresh~ The color of the meat looks amazing, right??

This is the radish salad mentioned in the instructions earlier. They said it's best eaten while still icy, so I tried it as soon as it came out — it was so refreshing and delicious! It seemed perfect to eat alongside the meat.

Doenjang stew and bibimbap

Here are the doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and bibimbap I ordered alongside! This place is amazing for sides haha. The doenjang stew is packed with tofu, zucchini, onion, and green onion, and the broth was genuinely delicious!! The bibimbap comes topped with all kinds of namul (seasoned vegetables) and even a soft fried egg, and it was way more delicious than expected. Putting a piece of meat on top of the bibimbap was seriously good. You have to try this combo.

Grilling over charcoal

On the well-heated pan, they grilled the leaner cuts first. The charcoal smoke flavor was so good — I think there are times you miss this charcoal-grilled taste even more than actual charcoal barbecue.

On the side, they neatly grilled kimchi and bean sprouts too haha. Looks so good, right??

My friend Yubbung's meat-grilling skills... not embarrassing to show off anywhere. The meat Yubbung grills genuinely isn't tough at all and is so delicious!! How does she grill it so well — I'm counting on you going forward~~^^ that kind of thing lol. I think you have to eat the first bite with just salt and wasabi to really taste the meat properly.

The taste of dwitgogi kkodeulsal

This is dwitgogi, which I think is commonly called kkodeulsal. It's really chewy and crisp and so delicious. I highly recommend the dwitgogi at Euljiro Charcoal Grill.

Dipping it generously in well-simmered myeoljeot and picking up a piece of the garlic and chili simmered together with it — that's the ultimate combo. Make sure to add garlic and chili and simmer them together~

The king oyster mushrooms served alongside are great too — tear them along the grain and dip in salt, they're so moist and delicious ㅠ.

They must have prepared the seasoned lettuce and perilla leaf mix for people like me who find it a hassle to wrap everything haha. Eating a bite of meat with that vegetable mix cuts the richness completely and makes it delicious.

Finishing with the pork skin

As the final finish, they grilled pork skin too. I'd never seen skin grilled this way before, but this skin-grilling method is amazing, right??? Grilled that way, it doesn't splatter at all and you don't have to flip it constantly, which was great haha. My pork-loving level went up another notch... How is it that all my friends are such foodies? That's why we're... mmph.

Grilled pork skin dipped in soybean powder

Dipping it generously in fragrant soybean powder makes it so nutty and chewy that it just keeps going down. If you're looking for a good Guwol-dong restaurant or want to enjoy both meat and seafood, definitely visit Euljiro Charcoal Grill Guwol Branch!!
