My partner had gone to this sashimi place in Guwol-dong for a company dinner and said it was delicious, so we finally visited!! It is Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch, with not only sashimi but also a wide range of seafood and meal dishes.

Getting there and parking in Guwol-dong
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is a five-minute walk from Exit 2 of Incheon Terminal Station, and it is also reachable on foot from Arts Center Station, so it is convenient by public transport. It is near Lotte Department Store Incheon Branch and Rodeo Street too, which makes it easy to get to!!
There is parking in the basement of the commercial building, so you can drive here as well, but the lot is rather small. Using a nearby public parking lot may make your visit more comfortable, haha.

Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch has a spacious dining hall, making it a nice choice for dates, family meals, get-togethers with friends, and company dinners alike 👍 The tables are spaced appropriately, and you can enjoy fresh sashimi in a relaxed atmosphere without feeling crowded.
There is also an aquarium of fresh seafood in front of the restaurant.

A broad selection, from live sashimi to meal dishes
The biggest advantage of Veteran General Fish Market is its genuinely broad menu. There is everything from live fish sashimi and assorted sashimi to mulhoe (spicy cold raw-fish soup), shrimp, seafood, fried dishes, soups, and other meal dishes. You can have live flounder, rockfish, and grey mullet sashimi, along with seasonal choices such as gizzard shad, raw shrimp sashimi, and grilled shrimp! The seasonal fish choices change, so it would be nice to come back at different times, haha.
- Flounder (for 2): ₩35,000
- Raw shrimp sashimi (mini): ₩27,000

Complimentary DIY kimchi pancakes
There is a self-service bar in one corner of the restaurant, where you can help yourself to any side dishes you need!
The most memorable thing at Veteran General Fish Market was the service that lets you make your own kimchi pancakes. There is cooking oil, a frying pan, plates, and kimchi pancake batter, so you can make them exactly to your liking, haha.

I like pancakes browned and crisp, so I put some care into making my kimchi pancake. It somehow tasted even better because I made it myself, haha.
If you fry a simple kimchi pancake while waiting for the sashimi, the mains come out before long.

A variety of side dishes to eat with the sashimi also comes with the meal.

The miyeok-guk (seaweed soup) is seriously delicious!! With seaweed soup, salad, aged kimchi, and various sauces for the sashimi, you can enjoy it in lots of ways, haha. The pollock roe was the best of all, and it actually went surprisingly well with the sashimi.

Flounder sashimi and raw shrimp sashimi for two
Our main dishes, raw shrimp sashimi and flounder, arrived. Since there were two of us, we ordered the mini raw shrimp sashimi and the flounder serving for two, haha.

Flounder sashimi is probably one of the most commonly eaten kinds of sashimi, and since I am a huge fan of it too, I chose it among all the live fish options.
The slices were not cut too thin, which gave them an appealing springy, chewy texture, haha. It is delicious dipped in chojang (sweet-tangy red chili sauce), but I also recommend lightly dipping it in soy sauce and wasabi to taste the flounder itself!

If you want a little more variety, top the flounder sashimi with pollock roe, makjang (fermented soybean dipping sauce), and radish sprouts for a bolder flavor.

Bouncy raw shrimp sashimi and grilled shrimp heads
You can enjoy seasonal seafood at Veteran General Fish Market too, so we had shrimp, which are at their seasonal peak right now. Grilled shrimp was available as well, but I ordered the raw shrimp sashimi I wanted most, haha. The mini size is not a huge portion, but it is perfect for a taste.
The first thing you notice about raw shrimp sashimi is that wonderfully bouncy texture! It has a satisfying spring when you bite into it, and lets you fully enjoy the shrimp's savory umami 👍

Raw shrimp sashimi is best with chojang, which adds a sweet-and-tangy note.

At first it felt bouncy and chewy in my mouth, then the umami built as I chewed—it was really delicious 🫶 You cannot eat raw shrimp sashimi unless it is fresh, but these shrimp had been in the aquarium and were prepared as sashimi right away, so they were wonderfully fresh!!

When you order raw shrimp sashimi, grilled shrimp heads come with it too, so you can enjoy both the springy shrimp sashimi and crisp grilled shrimp heads!
If sashimi alone does not feel like enough of a meal, there are meal dishes such as sashimi rice bowls, fish roe rice, and spicy fish stew, so there is no need to worry, haha.
I wholeheartedly recommend Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch to anyone who wants to enjoy various kinds of sashimi and seafood, including flounder, rockfish, and grey mullet, in Guwol-dong, Incheon!! Alongside standard sashimi, it sells seafood and sashimi that are available only in season, so I think it would be great to visit regularly and try them. I especially recommend it as a place for raw shrimp sashimi in Incheon 👍 The sets are divided into portions for two, three, and four people, so it is also easy to order if you want to try a little of everything 😆
