Jeju bakery café with a garden, chickens and rabbits: Jayeon in PLANT827

In short

Jayeon in PLANT827 (자연in PLANT827) is a large bakery café in Wolpyeong-dong, Jeju City, on Jeju Island. The writer tried the signature 827 Latte and Plant Latte with an injeolmi cream bun and Danish loaf, then wandered from the floor-to-ceiling garden windows out to the outdoor garden where chickens and rabbits live. A spacious spot for enjoying a garden view and fresh bread at the same time.

When I'm looking for a café in Jeju, pretty interiors matter, but I find myself searching for somewhere spacious and comfortable enough to stay a while. Jayeon in PLANT827 (자연in PLANT827), which I visited this time, was exactly that kind of Jeju café – a good place to spend a relaxed, unhurried afternoon.

When I arrived out front, I was surprised at how much bigger it was than I expected..!

Jayeon in runs not only the bakery café but also a foot bath area and the Wolpyeong Flower Market garden, so the whole site is on the large side. If you're just visiting the café, I was told you can park in the rear lot and get to the shop quickly.

Stepping inside, sure enough, the interior is huge. There are lots of seats and the atmosphere is airy, so it was easy to settle in. There's everything from plush cushioned seats to big group tables where several people can sit together.

What I loved most of all was the garden beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows!! Even sitting inside, the lush green garden fills your view, so it never feels stuffy at all. Just sipping a coffee and gazing out the window feels healing in itself 🍃

Bakery and signature drinks

As you'd expect from a Jeju café, the bakery selection is wide.

A wide variety of baked goods

From injeolmi cream buns (injeolmi is a chewy rice cake dusted with roasted soybean powder) to baguettes, whole wheat loaves and salt bread, there are so many kinds that bread lovers will have fun just browsing 🤤💛

Looking at them one by one, it was hard to just walk past ... all I wanted was to buy the whole lot and eat it ...🥹

What we ordered

827 Latte and Plant Latte

The 827 Latte is PLANT827's signature drink, with a sweetness like butterscotch candy and a smooth, mellow taste. The sweet flavor layered over the coffee's slight bitterness made it easy to drink without feeling heavy. The Plant Latte combines house-made passion fruit syrup with milk, and it's a different experience from a typical latte. The tangy-sweet passion fruit and soft milk come together so it drinks almost like a yogurt – another signature menu item.

Of the breads, the injeolmi cream bun was especially good. The bun itself has a chewy texture, and inside is a nutty, soft cream that pairs really well with that distinctive roasted-soybean flavor of injeolmi.

The Danish loaf has distinct layers like a pastry. Take a bite and the layers tear away softly with a subtle buttery aroma – delicious even eaten plain.

And off to one side there's a self-service corner where you can pack up any leftover bread to take home. Handy for anyone who picks out several breads and worries about not finishing them !!

The outdoor garden and Wolpyeong Flower Market

The café's outdoor garden

After the drinks and bakery, we had a look around the outdoor garden too. We got to meet the chickens and rabbits there – they were so plump and adorable that we ended up watching them for ages 🤍🤍

The garden as a whole was quiet and nice for a slow walk. Since summer was well past, there weren't many flowers in bloom, but instead everything was full of lush green tones, which gave it a different kind of mood.

A lot of Jeju cafés are places you snap a few pretty photos and leave right away, but at Jayeon in PLANT827 you can wander the spacious interior and the garden as well, so it's a good place to linger a little longer.

If you want to relax comfortably over tasty baked goods and distinctive drinks, this is a Jeju café worth dropping by. With animals to watch plus flowers and trees, it'd be nice to bring kids too, and it would especially suit anyone who prefers wide-open spaces or loves a garden view 💗
