A new café in the basement of Nowon Lotte Department Store
Basement level 1 of Nowon Lotte Department Store has completely transformed. A bunch of famous restaurants and cafés have moved in, turning it into a real food and café destination. Because of that, it's packed with customers whenever you go down there. The place I visited was Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters. It was already a famous café, and now I'm so happy it's more accessible at Nowon Lotte.
Once you go down to basement level 1 at Nowon Lotte, you'll notice everyone's holding a drink in one hand — did you know they're all from Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters? I got curious just wondering how good it must be that everyone's drinking it, so I had to go check it out myself.

20% off drinks with a food court receipt
Most people use the food court on basement level 1, but Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters doesn't have its own seating. So instead of heading to a separate café after your food court meal, I'd recommend grabbing a takeaway drink here — because there's an ongoing promotion where showing a receipt from the Nowon Lotte food court gets you 20% off your entire drink order. 20% is pretty significant, right? Since you're getting coffee anyway, it's perfect to take it to go and wander around the department store.
Menu and prices

This is the menu board at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters. There's a wide variety, and it's not just coffee — there are non-coffee options too, so there's plenty to choose from. For pregnant customers, decaf beans can be substituted for free, so keep that in mind.
Signature menu

I was debating what to order, but this place has its own signature item. It's the signature coconut coffee, which has racked up 1.1 million cups sold. Since I came to a famous Nowon coffee spot, I had to try the signature drink.
Cold brew, beans, and instant coffee

On one side, cold brew is displayed inside a showcase. For a longer trip home, bottled cold brew seems like a better option than a disposable cup.

They also sell coffee beans separately, along with instant coffee. Since it's from Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters, it seems like it'd be delicious. The instant coffee would be good to keep at the office, and the beans are a good choice if you have a coffee machine at home.
Store atmosphere and wait

After ordering, you get a buzzer. There's no real seating area in the store, so I wandered around checking out the many other famous spots at Nowon Lotte while holding the buzzer until it went off, then went back to grab my order. On weekends the order line stretches out long, but since I visited on a weekday the line was short and easy. Nowon Lotte's food scene is seriously popular these days.
How does the signature coconut coffee taste?

I visited with a companion, and once they saw the menu board, they also wanted the signature drink, so we ordered two coconut coffees. Most other customers were ordering coconut too — it really lives up to being the 1.1-million-cup signature menu. It has coconut and coconut milk mixed in, with a creamy shaken espresso, so it's essentially a rich coconut latte through and through.

One sip and it's unmistakably coconut!! The coconut aroma and flavor spread across your whole mouth. Simply put, think of it as a coconut café latte — the soft, nutty coconut scent hits first, followed by the latte flavor. I think people who don't like bitter coffee would enjoy the sweetness, and even though I usually only drink Americanos, I really enjoyed this coconut coffee.
The milk and the shot come separated, so you're meant to mix them well before drinking. I tasted mine before mixing, which let me taste the coconut flavor more intensely. Trying one sip unmixed isn't a bad idea either, haha.
I took it to go and enjoyed it the whole way home from Nowon Lotte Department Store. I'd recommend the combo of eating well at the delicious basement 1 food court at Nowon Lotte, then heading to Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters for a palate cleanser afterward.
