Get off at the Daegu Employment Welfare Plus Center stop and it's a 100m walk to Matdongsam Beomeo Main Branch — from Venture Valley intersection, head toward Anadeu Beomeo and Beomeo Xi apartments.

It even had a waiting area, just like a proper hotspot restaurant.

A waiting line right after we sat down — lots of families

The interior was clean, just what you'd expect from a new pork belly restaurant. A waiting line formed the moment we sat down. If we'd been just a little later, we'd have been the ones waiting!! Lucky Vicky, am I right 👍 Judging by the crowd, a lot of people from the nearby apartments come here — especially families.

Domestic pork belly and gabrisal — the freshness was on another level

Our meat order arrived, and the meat at Matdongsam Beomeo Main Branch was really something. Truly fresh, through and through ✨ They told us Matdongsam is short for "delicious neighborhood samgyeopsal," and they only use domestic pork belly, believing good raw meat matters above all else.

Using only carefully selected top-grade domestic pork belly, you could really taste the chewy texture and savory flavor. The gabrisal was light yet had that distinctive chewy bite that kept us reaching for more. Bite into it and it's springy at first, then juices spread through your mouth ꯁ.̮ꯁ It's no secret we added an extra serving of pork belly because it was that good 🤫 We wanted to try the kkodeulsal too, but it was already sold out — a shame 😢 If you want to try a variety of cuts, an early visit is the answer!

Icy mulbibim noodles and yeolmu bibim noodles

The mulbibim noodles (cold noodles in spicy sauce) we ordered for a meal had amazing icy slush — a hit from the visuals alone! The sweet-and-sour, spicy sauce soaked right into the noodles, and each springy mouthful left my palate refreshed. Especially as the ice slush melted away and mixed into the cool broth, every last bite felt genuinely refreshing.

The yeolmu bibim noodles' sauce was also amazing. The sauce soaked right into the springy noodles, so one bite instantly woke up my appetite. The crunchy vegetables added great texture too, and the sweet-and-sour, spicy umami sauce paired beautifully with the savory meat — I couldn't put my chopsticks down. It went perfectly with both the pork belly and the gabrisal 👍

Grandma's doenjang stew

Grandma's doenjang (soybean paste) stew was loaded with tofu and zucchini, which I loved. It cut through the richness of the meat so well that I kept alternating — a bite of meat, a spoonful of stew, a bite of rice, on repeat.
