Main photo of Myeonsikdang Jiwel City

My friend and I went to hang out in Jiwel City, Cheongju, for the first time in a while! But is it just me, or is it surprisingly hard to find a simple, good place to eat in Jiwel....😭 Then I remembered Myeonsikdang Jiwel City!! I'd visited before on my own dime, and it was so affordable and tasty that the place was packed with people.

Here's my review of another delicious meal at Myeonsikdang, a solid Jiwel City spot. Let's go!

This is the entrance to Myeonsikdang Jiwel City! It's inside Jiwel City Mall, right across from Solbat Elementary, so it was easy to find. Park in the LK Triplex underground lot and just head up haha.

Weekend evening: atmosphere and seating

This is the inside of Myeonsikdang! We came in on a weekend evening so there were tons of people. Almost every table was full, but the turnover seemed fast so I don't think you'd need to worry about seats haha.

Bar seats by the window, good for solo dining

There's also a bar table facing the window where you can eat! It seemed like a great spot if you're dining solo or if the two-person tables are all full.

Myeonsikdang Jiwel City menu and prices

Here's the Myeonsikdang menu! I didn't get every single item, but I photographed each of the main dishes 📸

From ten-thousand-won-range sets to under-ten-thousand-won single dishes....!! These days it's hard to find menus in the ₩8,000–9,000 range, but Myeonsikdang was very affordable. We ordered shabu pho + demi-hire katsu, and mozza cheese katsu.

Table setting with small plates, cups, and pickled radish

Small plates, cups, and a dish of pickled radish were already set up at the table! And the staff were all so kind that it was really comfortable to eat here haha.

Mozza cheese katsu: fun with dipping sauces

The food arrived✨ Something I notice every time I eat at Myeonsikdang — the portions are surprisingly big....!!!

Mozza cheese katsu served with rice, salad, and clear soup

The mozza cheese katsu comes with rice, salad, and clear soup, and I loved that there were so many different sauces to dip it in!

Cross-section of Myeonsikdang's mozza cheese katsu showing melted cheese

The savory cheese flavor was really good, and the meat wasn't tough at all — crispy on the outside and juicy inside, one of the tastiest dishes I had 😋

Various dipping sauces served with the pork cutlet
Wasabi, salt, and other sauces for the katsu

From classic tonkatsu sauce to wasabi, salt, and even some kind of red thing(?), there was enough variety that I never got tired of it ❣️

Myeonsikdang's shabu pho topped with bean sprouts

How was the shabu pho + demi-hire katsu set?

I went back and forth before choosing the shabu pho, and I felt like I'd chosen well!! The bean sprouts went really well with the pho noodles, and the broth had that light, clean shabu-shabu flavor that I liked. The portion was especially huge — I kept eating and eating and it just wouldn't shrink, so in the end I had to leave a little...lol.

Demi-sauce hire katsu served with the set

The pork cutlet that came with the set! It was coated in sauce, so it was moist and delicious. As usual, no gamey smell from the meat and it was tender, so it was easy and pleasant to eat 🤤

Don't forget to settle parking on your way out

Parking payment machine next to the restaurant door

Last thing — don't forget to settle your parking!! No need to ask a staff member; just use the parking payment machine next to the door. Since it's free up to 2 hours, it's nice for having a meal and taking a walk around ...🤎

If you're looking for an affordable Jiwel City restaurant, I recommend Myeonsikdang Jiwel City!! The staff are kind, the prices are low, and the taste is guaranteed too, so it's a really comfortable place to eat. Great, great!
