Butter naan seconds at Mandala Indian Lounge, a Hapjeong curry spot
In short
Mandala Indian Lounge is an Indian curry restaurant on the third floor of a building near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. Dining as a pair, we ordered chicken tikka (16.0), chicken makhani (12.0) and butter naan and garlic naan (3.5 each), then added one more butter naan because it was that good. The spicing at Mandala Indian Lounge stays mild, so it works even for someone eating Indian curry for the first time.

Last summer I went to eat Indian curry with my mom, and it was her very first time trying it — she said it was so, so good. So this time I took her back for more Indian curry, to a Hapjeong Indian curry spot, Mandala Indian Lounge 🥘
Where is Mandala Indian Lounge near Hapjeong Station?

Mandala Indian Lounge, a great Indian curry spot in Hapjeong, is located close to Hapjeong Station, so it wasn't hard to find at all.
What is the interior of Mandala Indian Lounge like?

Here's a look inside this pretty, cozy Hapjeong Indian curry restaurant...! ✨ The lighting is great, so photos come out really well ~ The tables are spaced far apart too, so it seems like a good spot for a date or a blind date! The staff were also super friendly, so we had a comfortable meal.

What two people ordered at Mandala Indian Lounge

For two people, we ordered Chicken Tikka ₩16,000, Chicken Makhani ₩12,000, Butter Naan ₩3,500, and Garlic Naan ₩3,500 : )
Chicken tikka (16.0)

The chicken tikka came out beautifully plated! Chicken tikka is boneless Indian chicken marinated in yogurt and spices, then roasted in a tandoor oven. The spices aren't overpowering, so it suits Korean palates well ~ The outside was nicely charred and golden, and the inside had a soft, tender chicken texture that I loved.
It comes with two sauces, a hot sauce and a cilantro sauce, so it was fun picking which one to dip it in! I usually can't eat cilantro, but I ate this one without realizing it was the cilantro sauce — turns out it was! So even people who can't handle cilantro, like me, can enjoy this sauce without worry.
Chicken makhani, or butter chicken (12.0)

I love curries with chicken as the base, so I ordered the Chicken Makhani for the curry! Chicken Makhani, often called butter chicken, gets its name from 'makhani,' meaning a smooth curry made with a butter base ~ It's not spicy and the spice flavor isn't too strong, so even people trying Indian curry for the first time can enjoy it easily. It tasted sweet, smooth, and savory. There was a good amount of tender chicken in it too!
Butter naan and garlic naan (3.5 each)

I personally prefer eating Indian curry with naan rather than rice, so I only ordered naan! We started with one Butter Naan and one Garlic Naan.

They came out fresh from the oven, so hot they were almost too hot to tear with our hands. The Butter Naan had a rich, savory buttery flavor that was great for eating plain. The Garlic Naan had a soft flavor with garlic aroma layered over the buttery taste! Both naans were wonderfully chewy and soft!

It was so good that we ordered another Butter Naan and kept eating : ) The Garlic Naan was tasty too, but personally I liked the buttery Butter Naan even more! Like us, you could order one of each kind of naan and then order more of whichever one you liked better : ) Also, there's an ongoing event where you get a free naan for leaving a review through the Naver receipt event, so if you're a naan lover, it might be worth joining ~
Is Mandala Indian Lounge worth a visit?

Since my mom loved the Indian curry she tried for the first time last time, we came back together again, and this time it was even better than the curry we had last time! The location is convenient, the atmosphere is lovely, and above all, the Indian curry is delicious — so if you're looking for a great-vibe Indian curry restaurant in Hapjeong, I recommend Mandala Indian Lounge! 👍✨
