Red Ribbon pizza restaurant in Yeonnam-dong: Sunny's Pizza Market

In short

Sunny's Pizza Market is a pizza restaurant on the second floor of a building on Dongyo-ro in Yeonnam-dong, Seoul, a short walk from Hongik University Station, and it has been picked for the Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon lists three years running. After an evening family meeting, the writer and her partner took a window seat and shared an R-size half-and-half pizza — spicy pepperoni and Sunny's Combination — with cheese crust added and draft beer on the side. The pizza was good, but the cheese crust at Sunny's Pizza Market was the standout, enough to replace a beloved Yeonnam-dong pizza place that has since closed.

Did you know there's a pizza place in Yeonnam-dong that's made the Blue Ribbon Survey three years running, and the Red Ribbon list three years running too? Yeonnam-dong is basically our home turf, so there was no way we weren't going to check it out. Say hello to Sunny's Pizza Market, a Yeonnam-dong, Seoul favorite.

Sunny's Pizza Market hours and parking

What a window seat at sunset is like

When we arrived before sunset, the lights were bright, but as we ate and dusk fell, the staff dimmed the lights and switched on the ambient lighting — a whole different, lovely mood.

The weather was nice, so we grabbed a window seat with a gentle breeze drifting in.

What are the Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon awards?

Sunny's Pizza Market, this Hongdae-area, Yeonnam-dong favorite, is covered in Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon marks. Three years running since 2024! So exciting~ I looked up what Red Ribbon means — apparently it's a further selection from Blue Ribbon-listed restaurants, picking out the ones that pair especially well with Coca-Cola! I mean, pizza and cola really is an unbeatable combo ¿

Sunny's Pizza Market menu: R size or L size?

The menu at Sunny's Pizza Market, this Hongdae-area, Yeonnam-dong favorite, even has a personal-size pizza, so solo visits seem doable. Pizza for one? That sounds like a whole different level of dining alone, haha.

We debated getting the L pizza, but after reading reviews saying the pizzas run pretty large, we went with the R size — good call ദ്ദി •⤙• ). We finished it feeling exactly, perfectly full 🐽 We got the R-size half-and-half — spicy pepperoni & Sunny's Combination — with added cheese crust. Right after our meeting-the-parents dinner, we treated ourselves to a beer each.

How the self-serve bar works

At Sunny's Pizza Market, this Hongdae-area, Yeonnam-dong favorite, everything is self-service except the actual food delivery to your table! You order and pay by tablet, and grab your own plates, utensils, sauces, and everything else from the self-serve bar.

Single-use hot sauce and parmesan cheese powder packets

The hot sauce and parmesan cheese powder come in single-use packets, which felt nice and hygienic! I grabbed disposable gloves and sauces, plus plates, knife and fork, and carried it all back to our table like a pro.

Pickles and garlic dipping sauce are set up on the side too. Free dipping sauce is such a nice touch ✧

They set out our plates and utensils, and laid out the pickles and garlic dip first while we waited.

Beer first: Cass draft and Budweiser

The beers arrive first. Plastic cups are a slight downside, not gonna lie. I don't know much about beer so I just went with Cass draft (the budget pick), while my beer-connoisseur boyfriend went with Budweiser (the pricier pick).

Spicy pepperoni and Sunny's Combination, R-size half-and-half

While we're sipping away at our beers, the R-size half spicy pepperoni, half Sunny's Combination pizza makes its entrance.

The pizza just kept disappearing... I've done pizza posts twice now and had one more saved to write up, and I still haven't nailed that perfect cheese-pull shot ᵕ̩̩ ᵕ̩̩

The R-size half-and-half pizza with stretchy cheese

The slices were stuck so tightly together that I failed to get the big cheese-pull shot when I cut it apart — but honestly, this much stretch after cutting is still pretty good, right?

Cheese stretching from a knife-cut slice of pizza

Sunny's Combination is loaded with ham, pepperoni, all sorts of vegetables, and a generous layer of cheese — classic really is eternal. I heard it's natural cheese, and maybe that's why it tasted even richer and more savory to me... or maybe that's just wishful thinking 😵‍💫

Too lazy to bother with a knife, I just put on gloves and dug in with my hands, very much the low-maintenance type. Then I glanced up to see my boyfriend diligently cutting his slice with a knife and fork, very much the meticulous type. We clinked glasses, congratulating each other on surviving the big event of meeting the parents.

Is the cheese crust worth adding?

Okay but seriously, you have to get the cheese crust at Sunny's Pizza Market. I mean it, I really mean it (dead serious). There used to be a pizza place in Yeonnam-dong I loved purely for its cheese crust, and it closed down, and I was so sad. I finally found a replacement... Genuinely, packed with cheese but still soft and savory, all at once. Just pure chewy deliciousness ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ

The spicy pepperoni was loaded with diced jalapeños, which intimidated the spice-averse among us a bit, but it wasn't actually that spicy — just enough heat to cut through the richness. The pepperoni wasn't too salty either, totally my style >.<

Anyway, that cheese crust is seriously delicious... dipping it in the garlic sauce is basically heaven, you know that right ㅠ

Yeonnam-dong pizza: the verdict on Sunny's Pizza Market

As evening came, a cool breeze drifted in and the lighting gave everything a lovely mood (minus 10 points for the Paik's Coffee view across the street, though). Anyway, if you want pizza in Yeonnam-dong, you have to come to Sunny's Pizza Market. The pizza itself was fantastic, but honestly the whole meal was great — I just happen to be completely obsessed with that cheese crust....
