First-time yukhoe bibimbap at a Yangju galbi restaurant: Manpo Garden

A full spread of galbi at Manpo Garden in Yangju

I went to Manpo Garden, a galbi spot everyone raves about in Yangju! This place genuinely nails everything — food, atmosphere, interior. The restaurant itself is huge and has a private room inside, so my family actually goes here for family gatherings sometimes! And on top of that, the food is just really good.

Where is Manpo Garden, and is there parking?

Manpo Garden's exterior. Whoa, the whole building is the restaurant, and there's a really wide parking lot out front so parking is super easy.

Manpo Garden's meat fridge displaying hanwoo beef and pork belly

Manpo Garden sells all kinds of cuts — beef, pork, galbi and more — and the hanwoo (Korean beef) and pork belly are kept in a meat fridge! Just looking at it, everything seemed super fresh.

Inside Manpo Garden: private rooms for family gatherings

Manpo Garden's interior. I really recommend this as a family dinner spot — the interior itself is spacious with a classy vibe, and there's a private room set up separately too!! On weekends or holidays I'd recommend a Naver reservation. The tables were spaced generously so I didn't feel bothered by other guests, and the tables themselves were really big. We ordered 2 servings of pork galbi, yukhoe bibimbap, and doenjang jjigae.

Ordering tablet and glasses set at each table

There's a tablet for ordering with various cups set at every seat! Since the naengmyeon is served free, there was vinegar and mustard right at the table.

What side dishes come free at Manpo Garden, including yukhoe and yukjeon

Even the variety of banchan (side dishes) is on point — perfect. Manpo Garden really has a wide range of basic side dishes: radish salad, pickled onion, baek-kimchi (white kimchi), pickles, spicy radish, salad, yukhoe, and even yukjeon (pan-fried beef). The galbi is only ₩19,000 a serving, and on top of that you get free naengmyeon plus yukhoe and yukjeon. With this clean atmosphere and food that comes out this well, no wonder it's always packed.

Pork galbi for two. Manpo Garden's pork galbi is seriously delicious…

And doesn't everything look like it'd taste amazing grilled over this charcoal fire?

They also gently set the yukjeon that came as a side dish right on the grill's edge.

Ahh, the fire is strong so you have to flip it often! The galbi is genuinely delicious — goes great with rice and just as well with naengmyeon. Not too salty either, seasoned just right.

Yukhoe bibimbap for 15,000 won: a first taste

Manpo Garden's yukhoe bibimbap. Wow, this was my first time ever eating yukhoe bibimbap and I really recommend it… seriously… it's ₩15,000 but the quality is so good. The yukhoe in it doesn't feel like the basic side-dish version — it feels like proper hanwoo yukhoe. It melts in your mouth and was genuinely fresh. Seriously recommend the yukhoe bibimbap.

And on top of that, the doenjang jjigae is a total steal too… loaded with woo-samgyeop (thin beef short rib slices) and all kinds of vegetables, and the pot itself is a different size from other grill houses.

Since I get hot easily, I quickly grilled the meat, piled it up, and had the grill pan removed!

Pork galbi plus onion — bet that looks amazing already. At Manpo Garden there's just so much to eat that your chopsticks stay super busy haha. Grabbing this side dish, eating that piece of meat, haha.

Manpo Garden's house-made naengmyeon comes free

The naengmyeon is free. Manpo Garden, Yangju's beloved galbi spot… honestly… the naengmyeon that's usually sold separately is free here… the portion is about 0.6 servings, but since the noodles are house-made, they're incredibly chewy and the broth and sauce are so good.

Free house-made mul-naengmyeon cold noodle soup

I had the mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) for the first time in a while and the broth was genuinely delicious… I wrapped it with the meat I'd been saving to eat alongside the noodles.

Refilling banchan at Manpo Garden's self-service side bar

Any side dish that runs low can be refilled at the self-service bar. Isn't that great?? I refilled the potato salad, and honestly every side dish there is delicious. I recommend Manpo Garden to all my neighbors — my favorite galbi spot in Yangju… :o
