Yangju galbi restaurant weekend lunch for four: Manpo Garden
In short
Manpo Garden is a handmade Korean pork galbi (grilled marinated ribs) restaurant on Godeok-ro in Yangju, Gyeonggi. Four diners booked a weekend 1:30 pm table at Manpo Garden and ordered six servings of handmade Korean pork galbi, chadol doenjang jjigae (brisket soybean paste stew) and paid add-ons of yukjeon (beef pancake, 6,000 won) and tasting yukhoe (beef tartare, 5,000 won), and the sweet-salty marinade and the side dishes were all worth finishing. The dessert naengmyeon (cold noodles) is free and good with leftover galbi, and the private rooms make Manpo Garden a solid pick for group dinners in Yangju.

Last weekend Yangju was hosting a nighttime tour event at the old government office site, so I grabbed lunch beforehand at Manpo Garden, a Yangju galbi restaurant known locally — here's my honest review!!!
Where is Manpo Garden, and what are its hours and booking options?
Manpo Garden is a galbi specialty restaurant at 28-37 Godeok-ro 355beon-gil, Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, 1st floor, open daily from 11:00 to 22:00. There's a full parking lot and a private room for groups, and Naver Reservation is available too.

Manpo Garden, this Yangju galbi restaurant, has a pretty upscale look even from the outside haha. There's an NH Nonghyup bank right next door too haha.

Inside Manpo Garden at 1:30 pm on a weekend, and the group rooms
Just like the exterior, the inside was huge and spotless. We visited around 1:30pm on a weekend and it was packed..! Luckily we had a reservation so we got seated right away!
As you can see from the two photos below, there's a private room, which makes it perfect for Yangju gatherings or work dinners, right? Points for looking classy from the start haha.
They also do takeout. One thing I thought was really thoughtful — they had ice cups ready. They said we could use the cups even for water or other drinks, not just coffee, so that was convenient haha.

Manpo Garden, this Yangju galbi restaurant, has dessert fully sorted out too — rice puffs, ice cream, and coffee are all set up so you can make a puff-cream sundae haha.

The set table at Manpo Garden, with tasting yukhoe and yukjeon
Manpo Garden, this Yangju galbi restaurant, has a really tidy and tasty basic table setup — especially the tasting portions of yukhoe and yukjeon, one per person, which felt like a really nice touch! All the side dishes came out clean too, none of them were skippable! Oh, and yukjeon and yukhoe can both be ordered as paid extras!
Let me first show you the whole table setup with the meat on it~

How does Manpo Garden's handmade Korean pork galbi taste?
Here's the handmade pork galbi we ordered. Our first order was four servings, so this photo shows the four-serving portion!

Two of us aren't great at grilling meat so it got a little burnt, but even so it was really tender and the sweet-salty marinade balance was delicious.

The best side dish on the Manpo Garden table
As I mentioned earlier, at Manpo Garden, this Yangju galbi restaurant, every single side dish was worth eating? Especially the mu-saengchae (spicy radish salad), which was really delicious, and the spicy pepper muchim (seasoned peppers) was crunchy and great too. The lettuce salad had just the right seasoning! With so many side dishes, every bite felt like a new flavor, which made eating fun haha.

What the yukjeon and yukhoe add-ons cost
The yukjeon came out as a complimentary tasting portion and it was pretty tasty, and the yukhoe had a bit of a previously-frozen feel but was still fine.
Both yukjeon and yukhoe can be ordered as separate add-ons. Yukjeon is ₩6,000 and tasting-size yukhoe is ₩5,000 — the yukjeon add-on portion is much bigger than the free tasting one, while the yukhoe add-on comes out the same size as the free tasting portion, which makes it a nice light option for ₩5,000! Of course, there's also a full ₩28,000 plate of yukhoe if you want more haha.

Is the chadol doenjang jjigae big enough for four to share?
I thought the chadol doenjang jjigae seemed a bit pricey, but once it arrived I understood why haha.
It wasn't a small clay pot — with four of us there, it was the right amount for everyone to share from one bowl. Personally I'd have liked it a bit spicier.

Free dessert naengmyeon and the puffed-rice ice cream
Manpo Garden, this Yangju galbi restaurant, gives you naengmyeon (cold noodles) for dessert, free of charge! I chose bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and the rest of my group went with mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup). Honestly I'm not a huge naengmyeon fan and it was just so-so for my taste, but since it was free, I happily topped it with our leftover galbi haha.
After the meal, we finished up with the rice-puff-and-ice-cream sundae for dessert before heading out ♥️
Is Manpo Garden a good spot for group dinners in Yangju?
I think this is genuinely a great place for anyone looking for a Yangju group dinner or gathering spot! It seemed to get a lot of family visits, and with the private room, it would also be great for small celebrations!!
