I've been to a bunch of bakery cafés in Sokcho, but if you asked me to pick the hottest spot right now, I'd say Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread without hesitation!

Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread Main Store is at 34-20 Haksapyeong-gil, 1st floor, Sokcho, Gangwon, and it's open 09:00–18:00. Parking is in the open lot right in front of the store, and it's massive! Zero stress about finding a spot, so it already gets a pass from me on that front.

I usually treat Sokcho trips like a bakery café checklist and hit up a bunch of spots, but this time I only went to the Bultan Gamja Bread main store. I heard it was the hot place right now, so I figured we had to go — I brought my mom and sister along!

The building was huge! Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread has a main store plus branches No. 1 and No. 2, so you can just visit whichever is closest. But we wanted the full main-store experience, so we made the trip out to the Haksapyeong-gil location on purpose.

The parking lot is also really spacious! It's an open lot so there's plenty of room even with several cars parked at once — lots of families visiting together too.

The Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread main store building is seriously stylish haha. It's great for photos, so my mom and sister spent a while snapping pictures all over the place. Exploring the interior of the building was fun too.

I bought 4 bultan gamja bread (burnt potato bread) and some jjondeugi!

The jjondeugi (chewy rice snack) came individually wrapped, which made it easy to grab one at a time — and that turned out to be a real problem lol. It was so good that my hand kept reaching for another one the whole drive from Sokcho back to Seoul without me even realizing it. That chewy, slightly salty taste keeps popping into your head, so I think I ate almost the whole pack in the car. The size was also just right for eating while driving, which made it even better.

Bought a box of bultan gamja bread and a 10-pack of Sokcho jjondeugi!!! The packaging was really nice too, good for gifting.

I really think I ate most of the jjondeugi while driving. It's not a strong or intense flavor, just really tasty, so my hand kept going back for more!? My sister tried one and kept saying "just one more, just one more" until I think she ended up eating half of it lol.

How to reheat bultan gamja bread: 30 seconds in the microwave

I didn't eat the potato bread right when I got home — I waited until the next day and microwaved it for 30 seconds, and that turned out to be exactly the right call!!

Warming it up made the chewy outer skin even chewier, and it paired perfectly with the potato inside. It's a combination you'd never notice eating it cold — once I warmed it up, I got exactly why people say to reheat it. Chewy on the outside, fluffy potato on the inside! And once it cools back down, it has its own kind of chewiness again, so both before and after reheating had their own charm.
