A Seoul Station favorite, Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch — a filling gyukatsu set lunch, reviewed.

I was looking for somewhere to eat near Seoul Station and ended up at Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch this time. There are so many good restaurants around Seoul Station, but I was craving gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet), which I already love, so I decided on Ichigyu. I'd been to the Gwanghwamun branch before and remembered the meat being tender and good value, so I looked it up — turns out this branch is only a 2-minute walk from Seoul Station Exit 10.

Where is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch, and what are the hours?

The address is B116, basement 1F, 98 Huam-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul. It's close enough to Seoul Station that it works well whether you have an appointment nearby or need a meal before or after catching a train. It's in the basement of the LG Seoul Station Building, so once you head into the building and down to the underground dining area, it's easy to find.

⏰ Hours are daily 11:00–21:30, with a break time from 15:00–17:00, and last order at 14:00 / 20:30. During weekday lunch peak, there's a wait as office workers from the area flood in. Luckily, I arrived a bit later, around 1pm, and got seated with no wait at all. Maybe because of the great location, customers and delivery orders kept coming in even after 1pm. Ichigyu really is the gyukatsu spot!

With two of us, this set meant one gyukatsu each plus drinks to share — perfect for a simple meal. I wanted to try other menu items too, but since we both love gyukatsu so much, we went with the two-cutlet set. There are other set combinations too, which would be good for sharing.

Butter included free, gyukatsu grilled at your own table

🔥 The fun part of Ichigyu's gyukatsu is definitely grilling it yourself!

The gyukatsu doesn't come fully cooked — you use an individual brazier at your table to grill it to whatever doneness you like. And the great thing about Ichigyu is that butter is included by default!! A lot of other gyukatsu places make you pay extra for butter, but here it's included, which makes it feel like even better value.

The outside has a crispy breaded coating while the inside is tender beef, so you can grill it bit by bit according to your own taste. Eating it right off the grill while it's hot really brought out the flavor of the meat, and the combination of the crispy coating with the soft inside was pretty great.

Grilling the gyukatsu one piece at a time

🥩 Rather than grilling the whole thing at once, it was more fun to put just enough on the brazier for the next bite and eat it right away. Once it hits the brazier, it starts sizzling, and the smell alone was enough to get the appetite going.

Since you can cook it to whatever doneness you like, it's also great if one person prefers it closer to rare and the other likes it more well-done — everyone can eat it their own way. I thought this was a solid spot near Seoul Station if you want something a bit different from the usual pork cutlet or rice bowl.

Apparently it's especially popular with office workers in the area during weekday lunch.

Is Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch worth it?

💛 This time at Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch, I ordered Set 1 with two gyukatsu and two drinks. Grilling the gyukatsu myself on the brazier made for a different kind of fun compared to regular pork cutlet. I also liked being able to eat the crispy-outside, tender-inside gyukatsu cooked exactly to my liking, bite by bite.
