Our kid's favorite dishes in the whole world are tonkatsu and udon. Our family has basically been to every tonkatsu-and-udon place in the neighborhood (Kkulbogi loves it so much we eat it about once a week). Today I want to introduce Kosi Gyodae Branch, a tonkatsu spot in Seocho that's close to home and has a great variety of set menus.
Where is Kosi Gyodae Branch, and what about parking and hours?
Kosi Gyodae Branch is on the 1st floor of 32 Seocho-daero 48-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 11:00 to 20:50, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00 — so plan around that.

Kosi Gyodae Branch has everything from single tonkatsu and udon dishes to full sets and one-bowl meals like katsudon and gyudon, so you can pick whatever suits your mood.
Each table has a little drawer with tissues, chopsticks, a spoon, and wet wipes as standard.

When is there a wait at Kosi Gyodae?
Heads up — if you go a little later in the evening, there can be a wait on both weekdays and weekends. We arrived around 5:30pm on a Saturday and there were only two tables left. Weekends probably see more of a wait than weekday evenings since it's popular for family dinners and dates.
What our family of three ordered and what it cost

First up was the bukkake set our kid ordered. She always orders bukkake udon whenever we go to an udon place, so she's basically a tiny connoisseur haha. Approved by our resident udon fanatic — that's saying something!
Since she loves soy sauce udon so much, we ordered the soy sauce udon & mini tonkatsu set (₩14,000). Pouring the sauce over and mixing it herself is a piece of cake for her now.
It's a bit much for a kid to finish, but that's fine since mom and dad can polish off the rest — and it's better than ordering too little and leaving her wanting more, so I'd recommend ordering generously haha.
Pour on plenty of the soy sauce and mix it up deliciously. A lemon wedge comes on the side too — it's a bit salty, so mixing the lemon in makes it taste even fresher.
Half-and-half katsu set with kake udon: two pieces of cheese tonkatsu
The half-and-half katsu kake udon set my husband and I ordered! It comes with two big pieces of cheese tonkatsu plus a regular tonkatsu. We were both starving so we picked the one that fills up the whole table haha.
It's packed with cheese, so if you love a good cheesy flavor, I strongly recommend the cheese tonkatsu. Beyond the cheese, the meat inside is nice and thick too — sooo good.
Our kid's bukkake set also came with inari sushi (fried tofu pouch rice), so it was really a hearty, varied spread we could all share.
The kake udon broth was refreshing and deep in flavor — so good. As the weather turns chilly, you naturally start craving a warm broth like this haha. Definitely a menu we'll be having a lot this fall and winter!
Salad and side dish refills at the self-service corner
Whenever I come to Kosi, this salad really suits my taste, so I always end up going back for a refill. The sweet-and-tangy salad dressing goes over well with our kid too.
Mix plenty of ground sesame into the tonkatsu sauce, then dip the cutlet lightly in salt and wasabi — it doubles the nutty flavor! Personally, dipping in salt is my top pick over the sauce.
The pickled radish and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) are unlimited refills too.
Is Kosi Gyodae Branch worth it for a family dinner?
The three of us had a hearty, delicious dinner of tonkatsu and udon for the first time in a while! I feel so lucky to have a spot like this in the neighborhood. If you love chewy udon, you have to go check it out!!
