Dongtan beef rib restaurant with cheese egg soufflé: Jipbul Taebaek
In short
Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch is a straw-fire beef rib restaurant in the Yeongcheon-dong dining alley of Dongtan, Hwaseong. The order was udae galbi (thick-cut beef ribs) for two with cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), cheese egg soufflé and rice, and staff grilled everything at the table and even stripped the meat off the bones, with baby tableware brought out for the child. Between the straw-smoke aroma and that table service, Jipbul Taebaek works just as well for a date as for a family dinner.

Here's a marinated beef rib place I visited in Dongtan's Yeongcheon-dong — Jipbul Taebaek! They actually do a straw-fire pre-grill here, so the meat flavor comes with real smoke aroma on top — so good! It's an easy-parking, tasty Dongtan date spot I'd love to go back to!
Where is Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch, and where do you park?
Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch is at 경기도 화성시 동탄구 지산2길 11-8, in the Dongtan 2 Yeongcheon-dong dining alley, open 12:00–23:00. I parked in front of the building — sometimes it fills up when it's busy, but there are plenty of public parking lots nearby in this dining alley, so it was easy to park and walk in.

It's on the side near Hanbaek Elementary/Middle/High School! A Dongtan Yeongcheon-dong restaurant in the Yeongcheon-dong dining alley — it's on the Dongtan 2 side!
Inside Jipbul Taebaek: the straw-fire pre-grilling room behind glass
The interior of Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch feels more upscale than expected, so it's good for a Dongtan date or a company dinner too — there's a restroom inside and the space is spacious.

The highlight here especially is this spot — the pre-grill zone has a glass window so you can watch it happening. Feels like catching a little fire show every so often!

They load in real straw fire like this so the smoky aroma soaks right into the meat — a Dongtan Yeongcheon-dong restaurant where you can eat meat prepared that way.
Jipbul Taebaek menu and what we ordered
At Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch, marinated beef ribs are basically the main dish. There are also other pork and beef menu items, so you can order the ribs and then pick extras.

We had a hearty spread: marinated beef ribs for two, plus a stew, egg soufflé, and rice.
Side dishes and dipping sauces at Jipbul Taebaek
Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch serves side dishes that feel upscale too — japchae (stir-fried glass noodles) and kimchi come out, which go great with the meat. The potato salad was sweet and tasty too.

There are especially a lot of sauces, so you can enjoy the meat in different ways.

One highlight among them: the kimchi and bracken fern, grilled on the pan, were delicious. Grilled on the stone plate, they're the best!
Straw-fire smoked beef ribs, grilled by the staff
We ordered the straw-fire smoked marinated beef ribs. This is where the flames blaze up! They come out pre-grilled so the charcoal-fire aroma is great, and since they're already partly cooked, they arrive and can be eaten quickly right in front of you — loved that.

On top of that, staff come to each table and really grill everything for you, so it's easy to eat comfortably. Meat still on the bone like this is honestly tricky to grill, and having staff do it means it doesn't burn and tastes even better.

The staff here were friendly too, so it was comfortable and delicious eating throughout.

Ha~ I'm someone who thinks meat on the bone tastes best, so I love this kind of rib dish, and Jipbul Taebaek's is legit delicious ><

Dipping it in various sauces or just eating it plain with rice, the meat itself is so good you keep reaching for more!

Pairing it with grilled bracken fern, kimchi, and mushrooms kept it from getting repetitive, so it was tasty all the way through.

And then, after we finished, they came back and picked even more meat off the leftover bones...!

So much meat came off again, we got to enjoy an even more generous, tasty second round. I'd worried bone-in meat might mean less actual meat, but there was quite a lot, and it was delicious.
Cheonggukjang and cheese egg soufflé: dining with a child
We also ordered a cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) at Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch, generously loaded with tofu and meat — hearty and delicious. There were various soup dishes too, like kimchi cheonggukjang.

They gave us baby tableware too, so it was easy to eat comfortably. They liked our kid, so even though our kid was shy, they chatted a bit — haha.
We also had the egg soufflé, loaded with a ton of cheese. Meat's great, but you can't skip the egg soufflé either!

The fluffy egg soufflé had so much cheese loaded in every which way, it was even better to enjoy.
Is Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan worth a visit?
