Aurum Hair Jeonju Hyoja is a hair salon on the 3rd floor of the building with Haetsal Chicken, in front of Tous Les Jours in Jeonju's Sin-sigaji (new town) area. It's open daily from 10:00 to 20:00. Check their notices for holiday closures.

Every time the season changes I get the urge to change up my hair, but I've been bleaching mine for n years now, so sadly perms or straightening are off the table for me... so partly living vicariously through someone else haha, I visited with a close younger friend who wanted an autumn hair change. There are a lot of salon nomads out there (myself included), but this was a place that did the treatment carefully and explained everything in detail — I was super satisfied!

Aurum Hair Hyoja is on the 3rd floor above Haetsal Chicken, in front of Tous Les Jours in Sin-sigaji, and it's easy to find since it's near the Starbucks by Jeonbuk Provincial Office! You can use the building's parking lot or nearby public parking. If you book through Naver and don't specify a designer, there's a 50% off coupon for a photo review, so if it's your first visit, I'd recommend taking advantage of that too.

Inside Aurum Hair: salon atmosphere and the spa room

Aurum Hair Jeonju Hyoja has an open, airy interior with great natural light, and there's a separate spa room. My booking was the first morning slot, and since this is a salon that treats clients carefully, there were already other customers there, so I only photographed the empty seats — but even the spots I couldn't photograph had great views too, so you wouldn't get bored during your appointment!! The open, spacious interior made it so pretty.

Looking around Aurum Hair, I thought the separate spa room would be great for getting private care, and the natural light and calm, comfortable feel made it a lovely hair salon in Jeonju's Sin-sigaji.

My friend, who wanted an autumn style change, had permed hair that was also previously dyed, so there was some existing damage. She wanted to straighten her hair and get a tassel perm, so after a detailed one-on-one consultation with Senior Designer Subin, the treatment began.

They brought out a drink and snacks right when we arrived. Senior Designer Subin, who handled the treatment, was so kind and bright that just chatting with her put me in a good mood...!! Meeting someone kind always makes you feel so good :)

How the ampoule-boosted magic straightening works on damaged hair

Since her hair had a history of previous treatments and was on the thinner side, Aurum Hair judged that adding an ampoule would help more than doing magic straightening alone, so they added one. Damaged hair really does need protection twice, three times over >_<

This is the hair before treatment, right after shampooing, where the curl is clearly visible — I could tell the style change from straightening would be dramatic. For magic straightening you need a place that straightens carefully without damaging the hair further, and Aurum Hair did the treatment with such care that I felt like even hair damaged by dye and perms could visit without worry. If you're looking for a good salon for magic straightening, I'd recommend this one.

Both of these photos are from the neutralizing stage of the magic straightening — they explained things well throughout the treatment but there was no unnecessary chit-chat, which I really loved. I'd recommend this Sin-sigaji salon to introverts who find salon small talk stressful!!

How long it took and how the tassel cut turned out

The magic straightening and tassel cut took 2 hours for shoulder-length hair, booked for the 10 a.m. first slot. This is the process of straightening the hair through with the flat iron — you can see on the right how much calmer it looks already.

During the cut, they asked what look she wanted and delivered exactly that, so she said she was 100% satisfied. The tassel cut shape turned out clearly visible and she liked it a lot — she said she was glad she got the tassel perm at Aurum Hair.

They also showed her how to maintain the tassel perm and how to work the texture, so she said styling it herself after the magic straightening wasn't a problem at all.
