Anyang charcoal galbi house for a family lunch out: Sannae Sutbul

In short

Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch is a charcoal-grilled pork galbi (marinated short rib) restaurant that recently opened in Bakdal-dong, Manan-gu, Anyang, Gyeonggi. Arriving right at the noon opening with her parents, the writer ordered 3 servings of pork galbi, added one more round when that wasn't enough, and finished with a spicy doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and rice. The marinade at Sannae Sutbul Galbi is neither too salty nor too sweet, so it never gets tiring — a solid choice for a family meal out or a group dinner.

I stopped by my parents' place after a while and suddenly wanted charcoal-grilled galbi so badly that I headed to Sannae Sutbul Galbi, which just opened in Bakdal-dong! Since the meat is grilled over charcoal, there's a subtle smoky aroma, and the marinade isn't too salty, so you don't get tired of it — I ate so well. The side dishes were varied too, great for pairing with the meat. If you're looking for a place for a family meal out or just craving grilled meat, this one's worth a visit — let me introduce it.

Where is Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch, and what are its hours?

Come straight in from Nongshim-ga and turn into the Daiso alley — you'll see the big sign right away!

A noon opening run at Sannae Sutbul Galbi with my parents

I was so hungry that I honestly did an opening run haha. It opens at 12, and I think I got there with my mom and dad around 12:30.

Since it's newly opened, the interior is so clean, and the sign has such big letters that it stands out at a glance. I honestly have zero sense of direction, and I've struggled to find places before when the sign wasn't clear, so seeing a sign this big made me so relieved, like 'phew, good.'

Inside Sannae Sutbul Galbi: private rooms that suit group dinners

The interior of Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch is so clean and open. Since it was morning, it seemed like the owner was running the place alone. It looked like they'll be swamped in the evening. The moment I walked in, I thought this would be perfect for a company dinner. Looking inside, there seemed to be private rooms too. If you're going as a group, I'd recommend making a reservation.

They brought water and tongs and scissors first, and paper cups — nice touch! I personally like disposable cups at restaurants. The spoons and napkins were also neatly stocked, which I liked. There were wet wipes inside too, so you can just grab them yourself if needed.

Grilling instructions and review event notice

While waiting for the galbi, I studied up on how to grill it properly haha. My dad was going to grill it anyway, but I read it carefully. There's a review event, so I think writing a review and getting steamed egg would be nice! I passed since I figured I'd be too full, but I should've just gotten it. I was going to eat lightly but ended up ordering extra meat haha.

After a short wait, they set up the charcoal and side dishes. If you look behind, there's a self-serve bar, so it's easy to refill any side dish you run low on! The salad was so good I went back for more. It's also great wrapped with the meat (the owner told me so).

The charcoal isn't blazing hot. It's gentle, perfect for grilling galbi!!

3 servings of pork galbi: thick meat and king oyster mushrooms

First we ordered 3 servings of pork galbi, and the portion is on the generous side. The meat is really thick and comes with king oyster mushrooms!! I ate all the mushrooms myself haha. Usually when you grill mushrooms over charcoal, they shrivel up and burn, right? But here the heat is gentle so they cooked up moist and juicy — who knew??

The seasoning isn't strong, and the salty-sweet balance is well done. The first bite of galbi is usually delicious no matter what, but if the marinade is too strong you get tired of it and can't eat much. This wasn't too bland either — just the right amount of seasoning, and I ate so happily. We were planning to have dinner later, so we said 'let's just keep it simple with 3 servings' — and then ordered more meat anyway. The bone parts especially are so good! Only people in the know get this, but the meat near the bone is tastier, and I tend to avoid places that only give you the meat without bone. Because this cut has a good mix of bone and meat, it tastes even better! When we ordered more meat, more mushrooms came out too — so happy!

Following the grilling instructions, I flipped it over several times, and out came juicy, moist galbi! You can see me busily taking photos too haha. I got so absorbed in eating that I stopped talking for a bit. I hadn't eaten breakfast, so I was starving. If your first meal of the day isn't tasty, it really brings you down, you know? I walked out patting my belly, so happy haha.

The meat disappeared in an instant. With three people eating, the pace is insanely fast haha. Maybe because everyone was hungry, we all ate so well. That's when we realized it wasn't enough and ordered more meat. I really could've eaten even more!!! If it weren't for our dinner plans, I would've wanted to postpone it haha. I didn't want to break the flow...

Finishing with spicy doenjang jjigae and rice

I'm a rice person, so I finished with doenjang jjigae and rice, and the portion was just right for three people! Once you're already fairly full from the meat, this stew helps settle everything and wraps up the meal nicely. Also, it's a bit spicy-hot, so keep that in mind! I found it spicy in a good way and really enjoyed it. It's packed with tofu, and there's meat inside too.

They also have baby utensils on hand, so parents with kids should find it easy to visit. The owner was so kind and the place was so clean, and above all, the meat was delicious! If you like galbi, you should definitely go.
