Daegu Korean restaurant with bossam platter: Uldong Bossam

I visited Uldong Bossam (울동보쌈), near the Dongin Government Complex in Daegu. I ordered the bossam platter with extra meat and also had the potato pancake.

Where is Uldong Bossam, and is parking available?

The address is 279 Gyeongsang-gamyeong-gil, 1st floor, Jung-gu, Daegu. By subway, it is about a 7–8 minute walk from Chilseong Market Station Exit 3. If you take the bus, get off at a stop near the Daegu Metropolitan City Hall Dongin Government Complex and walk from there.

If you are driving, search for Uldong Bossam or the address in your navigation app. There is no private parking lot, so you need to use a nearby parking facility.

Is the seating suitable for solo meals or family dining?

The interior was clean and cozy overall. There were decorations in various spots, and the seating ranged from bar tables that work well for solo dining to four-person tables and room-style spaces. The atmosphere also suited family meals, dates, or group gatherings.

Plenty of portable chargers were also available. I noticed that the restaurant had prepared these useful items in addition to the dining space.

What are the bossam set prices and menu like?

When I visited, the bossam set was in the low ₩10,000s. Menu options suitable as drinking snacks included small, medium, and large bossam portions, suyuk hot pot, potato pancake, and minari pancake.

Each table was already set with barley tea, soy sauce, wet wipes, and water glasses.

How was the potato pancake we ordered?

The potato pancake came out first. It was so large that it was difficult to fit the whole thing in one photo, which was a little disappointing. It was crisp on the outside and moist inside, and it went well with either ketchup or soy sauce.

What comes with the bossam platter?

The bossam platter came out soon after I had eaten some of the potato pancake. The basic side dishes included spinach, water kimchi, and pickled onions, while salted shrimp and ssamjang were neatly arranged to accompany the bossam.

Rice and chadol doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew with beef brisket) also came with it, making the meal filling. The stew had a nice savory depth.

How was the meat-heavy bossam?

The bossam platter I ordered also included hangjeongsal, or pork jowl. The ratio of lean meat to fat suited my taste, and I was satisfied with how tender the pork was.

The combination of eating the minari and musaengchae (seasoned shredded radish salad) with the meat was also good. The tender bossam, rice, and stew made for a filling meal, and the crisp potato pancake stayed with me too.
