Suwon café for a coffee break with Mom: Jeong Jiyeong Coffee
In short
Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch is a café on the second floor of Starfield Suwon in Suwon, Gyeonggi. Mom and I shared coconut coffee and a latte after shopping, and the sweet, nutty signature drink was a fun contrast to the easygoing latte. Verdict: Choose the coconut coffee when you want something a little different.

Starfield Suwon, perfect for shopping and a day out
As the weather starts to turn cool like it has lately, I want to take a little weekend outing somewhere nearby, shop, and eat something delicious too. Suwon Starfield feels like the place where you can enjoy all of that at once. Especially! It is such a great place to visit with a baby. There are lots of shops, plus everything from good restaurants to famous cafés, so even a whole day goes by in no time. Starfield Suwon offers six hours of free weekday parking, and you can rent a stroller for free too!

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters on Starfield Suwon’s second floor
When I visited Starfield Suwon this time, I started looking for a café where I could take a quick break while shopping. That is how I ended up at Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters (정지영커피로스터즈). It is on the second floor of Starfield.

I had been to Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters’ Haenggung main branch before, and the beans themselves were so delicious. I was really satisfied because you could feel the care put into everything, from the coffee to the desserts. I was happy to find out they had opened at Starfield Suwon too, and I rushed over because I wanted to relive that good memory and try it again! On this day, I ordered coconut coffee and a latte to share with my mom. If you love coffee, the two drinks have quite different personalities, so I think it would be nice to compare them too :)

A small but tidy shop, plus goods
My first impression as I looked around was that it was small, but tidy and comfortable. Since Starfield is a place with so many people passing through, it was even nicer than I expected to have a café where you can take a short break from shopping!

They also sell lots of pretty goods, so keep that in mind.

Fig cake and beans you can smell for yourself
I already think Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters does drinks really well, but this place seems seriously devoted to dessert too...! They were selling fig cake, made with figs that are in season in autumn. Can’t you tell from the slice alone that they did not hold back on the ingredients? I was too full to have dessert that day, but I definitely want to try one next time.

At Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters, you can smell the coffee beans yourself and choose them like this. Usually, I order beans that sound appealing just from words like nutty or acidic, but I loved being able to see, smell, and choose the beans in person!

What did the coconut coffee taste like?
These are the two drinks I ordered: coconut coffee and a latte. The one I was especially looking forward to was the coconut coffee! I like familiar coffees such as Americanos and lattes too, but when I visit a café and it has its own signature drink, I can never resist ordering it at least once.

True to its name, coconut coffee lets you enjoy coconut’s sweet, nutty aroma together with coffee, so it definitely had a charm that was a little different from ordinary coffee. And the coconut aroma and coffee aroma went together even better than I expected! For reference, you can switch it to decaf or oat milk, so I think those options would be great for anyone who is sensitive to caffeine or finds dairy difficult because of lactose intolerance.

At first, you get the coconut aroma and sweetness, then more of the coffee’s flavor comes through as you drink. It made it fun to sip! I think it would be the best choice especially for anyone who wants to try a coffee that is a bit more unusual than the familiar options.

If you share coconut coffee and a latte
While coconut coffee was sweet and distinctive, the latte was a comparatively easygoing drink. The smooth milk and coffee came together nicely, making it good for sipping slowly in the middle of a shopping trip. If you visit with someone like I did, I highly recommend ordering one coconut coffee and one latte—two different drinks—and sharing them!

A great place for a quick break while shopping! I recommend the coconut coffee, a sweet and nutty signature drink! :)
