Suwon café with rice-cake toast: Hongrad Suwon Station Branch

In short

Hongrad Suwon Station Branch is a vintage New York–concept café in Suwon, Gyeonggi, behind the Suwon Tax Office. I stopped by outside weekday peak time for strawberry latte and Hongrad Toast filled with rice cake. Verdict: a quiet, atmospheric spot for a break or date away from Rodeo Street.

A relaxed Hongrad Suwon Station Branch behind the Suwon Tax Office

Suwon Station is great for seeing a movie or shopping, then taking a lap around Rodeo Street and grabbing coffee, right? Haha. This place is past Suwon Rodeo Street, behind the Suwon Tax Office^^ It is roughly within a 10-minute walk from Exit 8 of Suwon Station~ It is slightly away from the station, but I like that it is not hectic and feels relaxed.

A spacious interior with a vintage New York feel

The black-and-white vintage New York concept gives it a modern feel. There is regular seating, but also sofa seating, so you can get comfortable. People who love sofas really seem to love the sofa seats, haha. There are plenty of two-person and four-person tables too~

The décor on one half of the wall has that New York, old-school kind of vibe, so I kept looking at it. The interior extends farther back than expected, so there are lots of tables and it is nice to use as a roomy space~

I visited outside weekday peak time, so it felt even more relaxed—great for quietly unwinding and having some time to myself~👍 They made good use of even the space at the back.

They also sell small, cute items, so it is fun to browse^^ You know, though—window-shopping only~~!! And while I did not use it myself, the restroom is inside too, so it looks convenient~

They have these Americano options too^^ Americano is ₩5,000, decaf Americano is ₩5,500, and hazelnut Americano is ₩5,500. I feel like I can almost smell that hazelnut Americano, haha. There are non-coffee drinks and tea drinks as well, so the selection is fairly broad.

Strawberry latte and rice-cake-filled Hongrad Toast

I ordered strawberry latte and Hongrad Toast, and before long my order came out in no time~

And here is the Hongrad Toast. I was going to try the amusingly named Ex-Boyfriend Toast, but I was curious about Hongrad, so I chose Hongrad Toast instead^^ It comes with one big scoop of ice cream on top~ Seeing that smiley face makes me smile too.^^

There is tteok (chewy rice cake) inside the Hongrad Toast~ On top of the toast are sweet red bean paste, soybean powder, and sliced almonds. Add a little ice cream for a heavenly bite^^

The nutty, just-sweet-enough red bean paste comes together beautifully—it is sweet and delicious~ Along with the strawberry latte, it made for a filling meal^^

Hongrad Café is quieter and has a better atmosphere than busy Rodeo Street, and it is great for dates too^^ Next time I need to try the Ex-Boyfriend Toast, haha—with a hazelnut Americano~~
