Suwon café for signature coconut coffee: Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters
In short
Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is a large café in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. I had its signature Coconut and Grapefruit Honey Black Tea on the second floor, a space that felt like part of the trip itself. Verdict: a lovely stop for chatting or working during a Haenggung-dong walk.

A break at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters during a Haenggung-dong stroll
While visiting Haenggung-dong, I was looking for a café where I could take a little break and ended up at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch. There are so many pretty cafés in Haenggung-dong that I agonized over where to go, but this time I wanted somewhere with a great atmosphere that was also known for coffee, so I chose Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters! As you wander around Haenggung-dong, there are truly lovely spaces tucked into every alley, and Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters in particular felt perfectly suited to the neighborhood's vibe.

Even before I went in, the atmospheric exterior caught my eye. Haenggung-dong is a neighborhood where old buildings and new spaces blend naturally, and Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters felt like it melted right into the surrounding streetscape. Lots of cafés these days feel mainly made for pretty photos, but I liked that this was not just somewhere that photographs well—it also had a nice atmosphere for actually sitting and spending time. Plus, I had been so curious about Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters' patented signature Coconut that I spotted while passing by, haha.

A space stretching from basement level 1 to the rooftop
Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is a huge café that occupies an entire building, from basement level 1 all the way up to the rooftop on the fifth floor! It was bigger than I expected, which really surprised me. Also, please note that it is a no-kids zone: entry is restricted for children below middle-school age because of safety concerns!!

Ordering the signature Coconut and Grapefruit Honey Black Tea
As you can probably tell from the café's name, it is reaaally famous for proper coffee!! We ordered the signature Coconut and Grapefruit Honey Black Tea, haha.

A signature Suwon café that was hipper and cooler than I expected! They also sell goods and little items overflowing with pride in Suwon and coffee. “No coffee, No workee”—so true...

From the reviews, the fig cake and fresh-fruit sando (Japanese-style fruit sandwich) are supposedly absolutely amaaaazing...! I regret not bringing some home ㅠㅠㅠ Now I have a reason I absolutely, absolutely, absolutely have to come back!

A visual that brings a smile to your face... Somehow it gave me the resolve to cheer up and work even harder at life, hahaha!

Café time on the second floor that felt like traveling
We settled on the second floor, and because the place itself was so beautiful, even the time spent sitting in the café felt like part of the trip.

Such an easygoing space, perfect for working! I even remember how good the music playing was... Just being in this space felt peaceful.

A refreshing, pleasantly bitter Grapefruit Honey Black Tea
I found my usual favorite, Grapefruit Honey Black Tea!! After debating again that day, I chose it. It had grapefruit's characteristic refreshing, slightly bitter flavor, with a sweetness added in that made the overall balance really nice. Since it was a grapefruit drink, I worried it might be overly sour or bitter, but the sweetness and brightness came through together, making it relatively easy to drink. Especially after walking around Haenggung-dong, the cool, refreshing flavor gave me a proper mood reset :)
Personally, when a drink is too sweet, I sometimes get tired of it after just a few sips. But perhaps because it has grapefruit's distinctive bitterness, I was able to drink the Grapefruit Honey Black Tea relatively cleanly all the way to the end.

The signature Coconut that showed me why it has sold so well
With one sip of Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters' Coconut, I immediately understood why it has sold 1.11 million cups!! Rather than being a drink with only an overpowering sweetness, it had a subtle coconut flavor along with a nutty note, so it was easy to enjoy. I normally do not remember finding coconut drinks delicious, but Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters' signature Coconut was the first one that had me marveling at its softness and subtle coconut taste~ It was a flavor I kept thinking about on the way home too ㅜㅅㅜ!!

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch matched Haenggung-dong's relaxed atmosphere beautifully, and it was also a nice place to visit with a friend and chat. The space itself is pretty enough for photos, so I think it would suit anyone looking for a café in Haenggung-dong. If I visit Haenggung-dong again, I want to try the other menu items I missed this time, one by one.
