I'm back with another recommendation from the Sadang/Isu area!
I recently met up with my cousin, who came back to Korea to enlist in the military after studying in the US!
A friend gave me a ticket to a magic show (I'll post that review soon too!), so our meeting spot changed from Gangnam to Sadang!
We met up, watched the magic show, went to a café, and planned to have dinner before parting ways — and my cousin said he wanted meat for dinner!
After searching around, we ended up having dinner at Chammak Isu Station Branch, famous as a grilled pork belly and makchang (grilled intestine) restaurant for gatherings near Isu Station!
We started with the makchang and pork belly set and enjoyed grilling it up, then added more since it was so good! Let's dive into this review of Chammak Isu Station Branch, a delicious spot near Sadang/Isu!

Inside Chammak: seating and table setup
Walking through the entrance, the spacious dining room came into view all at once! There was also a self-serve bar up front!
It was 5pm on a weekend, and already about four tables were dining!
Near the entrance there were signs pointing to the restroom, along with the door code~
They had kids' chairs ready for families dining with children, and aprons placed around the restaurant.
What's on the self-serve bar at Chammak?
Here's the self-serve bar set up on the side! There were signs marking it clearly!
Curry powder and bean powder were also available for dipping!
There was pickled radish, pickled onion, green onion, lettuce, napa cabbage, enoki mushrooms, eggplant, kimchi, potato, bean sprouts, garlic, cheongyang chili, and various sauces!
Another self-serve bar further inside had ramyeon (instant noodles) ready! You pick a ramyeon and take it, and the staff brings a pot of water to your table.

There was a mixed makchang + pork belly set as well as sets with only makchang!

There were also other à la carte items, plus meal and side menu options.

The 39,000 won mixed makchang and pork belly set for two

Here's the two-person set we ordered first! Mixed makchang + Korean pork belly (440g after first grill) came out together!
There was another burner on the table for boiling ramyeon!
We love the thick-noodle instant noodles (odongtongmyeon), so we decided to boil that! The staff brought over a pot filled with water!
Then they laid the pork belly and makchang onto the heated grill!
We grabbed kimchi and bean sprouts from the self-serve bar! Seasoned chives came as a default side~
Everything went on the hot pan all at once! My cousin hadn't had lunch and I'd only had brunch before meeting up, so we were starving and just piled it all on haha
We also grabbed enoki mushrooms, eggplant, and potato from the self-serve bar~

They grilled the eggplant, potato, and enoki mushroom we brought from the side bar too~ They grill everything so nicely!
They cut the makchang into bite-sized pieces and flipped it well too~
The mixed makchang came with both beef and pork makchang! Eating the beef makchang with seasoned chives was especially delicious~
It was also great with the cabbage salad that came alongside! Chewy and savory — really something special!

Along with the meat and makchang, they boiled up the noodles too! Bubbling ramyeon on one side while the meat and makchang grilled on the other!

Here's the nicely grilled makchang! The eggplant and mushrooms turned out great too!
Steamed egg and the free corn cheese
Here's the steamed egg that comes standard with your order!
This is the corn cheese you can also get through the review event. The owner kindly gave us this one on the house!

Such a perfect combo with the meat~ Fluffy steamed egg and delicious corn cheese!
The corn cheese was savory with that satisfying pop of corn kernels~

We also ordered the self-serve rice ball, and the portion was really generous~

Here's the whole table loaded with food!

The owner gave us some napa cabbage so we'd have somewhere to set the fully cooked meat!
We happily dug into the well-grilled meat and makchang!

The pork makchang was grilled well too, and wrapping it in lettuce was delicious~ Dipping it in the sauce (makjang) was the best combo, and it went great with the seasoned chives! I also loved grilling eggplant and eating it with the meat or makchang~
Here's the nicely boiled ramyeon.

They grilled the kimchi, bean sprouts, eggplant, and enoki mushroom on the pan together~
For the rice ball, we just mixed it up and ate it straight with a spoon!
The pork belly was also great eaten with mushrooms, eggplant, pickled radish, and rice ball~
The chewy pork makchang with ramyeon was such a great combo too! Being able to enjoy other ramyeon flavors from the self-serve bar felt like a real perk!
Eating the pork belly and makchang with corn cheese and steamed egg on the side made it even better. The eggplant, makchang, and ramyeon combo was great too~ And pork belly with ramyeon is always a reliable pairing!
Adding 150g of oak-smoked pork belly
Here's one serving of the oak-smoked pork belly we added on.

They grilled it nicely on the pan! It was great being able to wrap it in all sorts of lettuce and vegetables~
Pre-smoked over oak, it had a subtle aroma and cooked quickly, which was nice~
Here's the smoked pork belly — it had its own charm compared to the fresh pork belly, and was just as delicious~

It was great wrapped in lettuce, with a slightly clean taste and a subtle smoky aroma — so good!

We grilled it up and demolished it thoroughly~ I could see why it's such a well-known pork belly spot for gatherings near Isu Station!
The steamed egg + makchang combo was tasty too~ Eating it with grilled kimchi or bean sprouts was also nice~

Wrapping it with the grilled vegetables was my favorite combo~ The smoked pork belly paired with grilled vegetables and kimchi was great too!
The rice ball with makchang and dipping sauce was also good — I loved the savory, chewy texture of the makchang~

Is Chammak Isu Station Branch worth a return visit?
We ate quite a lot, so we ended up leaving some of the rice ball since the portions were so generous haha! Overall we had such a delicious meal at Chammak!
My cousin said he wanted meat, and seeing him eat it up saying how good it was made me really happy!
Both the fresh and smoked pork belly were excellent, and being able to enjoy both beef and pork makchang was great too~ There was no unpleasant smell at all and the quality was solid, which was satisfying — I also liked that the makchang came pre-grilled once already!
The self-serve bar was packed with side dishes and vegetables to enjoy alongside, and there were plenty of menu items available through the review event too~ For anyone looking for a great pork belly or makchang spot for gatherings near Isu Station, I recommend Chammak Isu Station Branch!
