Dak-gomtang and Eonyang-style kalguksu: how was the broth?
The dak-gomtang (₩11,000, chicken soup with rice) arrived bubbling away in a hot stone bowl, and the first spoonful of broth drew an instant gasp! The long-simmered broth was so rich and deep, its savory flavor filled my mouth.

The stone bowl was loaded with big, tender pieces of chicken that came right off the bone, and the rice, soaked in that broth, made every bite feel filling and satisfying.
The broth was so good I cleaned the bowl completely, not a single grain of rice left! 🥣✨

The Eonyang-style kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) was just as excellent, with a thick yet savory, deep flavor from the perilla-seed and chicken broth.

The chewy, springy noodles topped generously with finely chopped fresh scallions and seaweed flakes hit both texture and flavor at once.
When you're craving hot broth like these days, this is hard to beat as a lunch spot in Jeonju's Eco City.
Chogye bibim-milmyeon with 4-piece mandu set, ₩13,500
Chogye bibim-milmyeon (cold spicy-sour mixed noodles) is an unmissable summer specialty! The set with 4 mandu (dumplings) was ₩13,500.

The big bowl arrived beautifully composed, with sweet-spicy mixing sauce, finely shredded chicken, yellow egg garnish, cute little quail eggs, cucumber, and pickled radish carefully arranged — it looked perfect before I even took a bite.

After mixing it all together and taking a big bite, the sauce burst with umami, balanced by tanginess and a clean flavor that would wake up any lost appetite!
The chewy mandu (4 pieces) that came with the set had thin, translucent wrappers packed full of meat and vegetables.

A bite of the spicy-sour chogye bibim-milmyeon followed by a warm, savory mandu dipped lightly in soy sauce is a flawless combo — no words needed! 😋

The silbi kimchi (side-dish kimchi) was spicy, in a good way, a little at a time...

It was so good I asked for a refill.
Verdict — who is Eonyang Dak Kalguksu best for?
Generous, carefully prepared portions, and that deep, rich broth flavor — that's what stood out most about Eonyang Dak Kalguksu Songcheon-dong Eco City Branch!
If you're trying to decide on a lunch spot in Jeonju's Eco City, or looking for a Songcheon-dong restaurant where the whole family can gather for a satisfying weekend meal, don't hesitate to visit! I'd also strongly recommend it to anyone visiting Jeonju who wants to experience a real, local favorite for rich broth after touring the restaurants of Jeonju Hanok Village. ❤️
