Yeonnam-dong really does have so many pretty cafés. There are plenty of pretty spots and plenty of famous ones too, but this time I went somewhere I personally thought, 'why didn't I know about this place sooner?' — Pip Espresso Bar!
It's set back in a Yeonnam-dong alley, and the moment I walked in I was surprised at how much bigger the space was than I expected, and the vibe was completely my taste.

If you're looking for a Yeonnam-dong café with a spacious, good-vibe layout instead of somewhere crowded and buzzing, bookmark this one :)

Pip Espresso Bar on a rainy day: better for the weather
It rained quite heavily that day. At first I was a little disappointed that of course it would rain on the day I planned a café trip, but once I actually got there — what do you know. Pip Espresso Bar on a rainy day turned out to be even more atmospheric.
What's more, this place isn't just indoor seating — there's also a fairly generous terrace space outside.
The interior atmosphere is genuinely charming too.

Exposed concrete and a lighting showroom interior
Step inside Pip Espresso Bar and the mood shifts completely. Exposed concrete, wood, glass blocks, plus vintage furniture and lighting fixtures. It's not just a neatly pretty café — there are points of interest scattered around that give it real character. Especially the lighting!
On one side, lighting fixtures of various designs are on display, and the space itself felt like a little showroom, which made browsing fun in its own right.
Each area has a slightly different mood, so where you sit changes the feel, and overall it struck a nice balance — hip without being overdone. It made me think this is a hidden gem of a café in Yeonnam-dong :)
Does Pip Espresso Bar work as a large Yeonnam-dong café?
Above all, the interior is bigger than I expected. A lot of pretty Yeonnam-dong cafés still have tight table spacing or small overall footprints, but here the space keeps extending toward the back, with a good variety of tables set up. If you're after a spacious, good-vibe large café in Yeonnam-dong, this one's worth keeping an eye on.
What is on the coffee menu at Pip Espresso Bar?
As befits an espresso bar, Pip Espresso Bar's coffee menu was extremely varied.

From espresso to stracciattato, macchiato, romano, cremoso, panna salata, panna truffle, con panna mascarpone and more — a lot of menu items I don't usually see at other cafés. I've decided I'm going to come back and try them one by one.
There are also separate signature menu items, so if you love coffee, just reading the menu board is fun on its own. There's a good variety of cream-based coffee drinks too, so if you're on the hunt for a great cream coffee spot, this one's worth noting.
Yeonnam-dong dessert order: tiramisu, iced latte and rooibos tea
The desserts at Pip Espresso Bar center around core items that pair well with coffee, like tiramisu and peach melba. These days a lot of large cafés lay out an overwhelming spread of desserts, but here it felt more like they've narrowed it down to exactly the dishes you'd actually want. We went with the tiramisu.
That day we ordered an iced latte, a rooibos tea, and the tiramisu!

Just placing everything together on one tray already looked so pretty :)🥰🥰🥰 I was there for coffee so the iced latte was non-negotiable, and it was nice that there was a tea option like rooibos for anyone coming along who doesn't drink coffee.
This is genuinely an americano spot. The beans are exactly my taste.
Tiramisu in a glass, buried under cocoa powder
And the star of the day was the tiramisu. It's served in a glass cup with cocoa powder piled generously on top. Absolutely wild visually.

It's the scoop-it-with-a-spoon kind of style, so it was perfect to set next to the coffee or tea and eat alongside it, and honestly if you love tiramisu this is an absolute must. Dopamine explosion.
A sip of coffee, a bite of tiramisu, and warm rooibos tea in between — spending time like that at a café on a rainy day was so, so good.

Sitting there watching the rain fall outside the window gave it a completely different mood from a sunny day. At first I was disappointed it was raining, but that weather actually let me experience Pip Espresso Bar's distinctive atmosphere even more fully.
Is Pip Espresso Bar worth a Yeonnam-dong date stop?
Yeonnam-dong has so many good restaurants and things to see nearby that it's a great neighborhood for a date, and if you're wondering where to go after a meal, tying this in as a stop on your route would work well.
Especially if you prefer a slightly more hip, characterful space over the usual soft-and-mood-lit café, or you're looking for a spacious Yeonnam-dong café, or you want to enjoy coffee and a Yeonnam-dong dessert together — recommended!
Next time I want to come back on a nicer day and finally sit on the terrace I didn't get to enjoy this time. To think a place with such a good vibe and this much space was hiding in Yeonnam-dong all along. Pip Espresso Bar felt like something I was only now discovering :) If you're planning a Yeonnam-dong date, save this as a good café to stop by after a Yeonnam-dong restaurant!
