Sharosu-gil café for Guatemala filter coffee: Pulse Line Coffee

Hi, it's Sun☀ I love spending a weekend morning over a cup of coffee, and while browsing café recommendations near Seoul National University station, I discovered Pulse Line Coffee, a new spot in Sharosu-gil. I heard they had a wide range of beans, so as a coffee lover, I headed over that very weekend!

Where is Pulse Line Coffee, and how far is it from Seoul National University station?

Pulse Line Coffee is about one block up from the main Sharosu-gil street. It's an easy walk from Seoul National University station too. Being slightly off the main alley, it felt much quieter.

Inside Pulse Line Coffee: pulse motifs and a black-toned interior

Once inside, pulse shapes representing a heartbeat pop up everywhere — on the cups and plates, on posters, even in the design drawn on top of the einspänner. It's all unified around the pulse motif, which felt like a nice match for the café's name.

Overall the interior is black-toned with red accents, which made it feel clean but still full of atmosphere. There are plenty of cute little cafés in Sharosu-gil already, so it's nice to see a café with this kind of black mood too.

The café also has a membership program, which looked handy for people who work nearby or visit often to rack up points.

I'm curious about the ba-re-yo (vanilla lemon yogurt) and mulberry yogurt, so I'm planning to go back. The menu is varied, so I'd recommend it as a café near Seoul National University station.

How many filter coffees does Pulse Line Coffee pour?

At places with filter coffee I usually go straight for it, and Pulse Line Coffee had quite a few options, which I loved. May it become a real coffee spot in Sharosu-gil.

There are barely any outlets, so if you're looking for a good working café in Sharosu-gil, make sure to charge your laptop before you come.

Seating is mostly 2–4 person tables, and the chairs were comfortable too. Being a weekend morning, there were families as well as people just stopping by for a relaxed cup of coffee. Seeing decent crowds even at a brand-new café made me weirdly proud, like I'd found a good spot hahaha.

Since it was my first visit, I figured I should start with the signature menu, so I went with the signature line.

Filter coffee, bean of the month: Guatemala

The filter coffee had several bean options, and without asking what the month's bean was, I just picked one like a random draw. Turns out it was the Guatemala bean, with a heavy body and notes of dark chocolate and walnut. I usually prefer coffee with acidity, but this dark cup, which I hadn't had in a while, paired really well with dessert.

Rhein sponer (cream-topped coffee)

The rhein sponer had a creamy texture that would satisfy anyone who loves an einspänner. The cream on top was thick and smooth, blending nicely with the coffee. Sugar rush and caffeine boost in one go!!

Handmade crème brûlée pie

The handmade brûlée pie had a texture like cookie dough with a touch of tanginess, and the brûlée top made it great to eat alongside coffee. It wasn't heavy, so it was good for a light bite!!
