I recommend Coffee Dripper, a Gangneung café tucked inside Chodang Tofu Village, a 10-minute walk from Gangmun Beach! It is a place for a carefully brewed cup of drip coffee using house-roasted beans, a tradition that has continued since 2012. Let me show you around!

It reopened in May 2026 with a new space and menu, offering an even fuller experience for travelers looking for drip coffee in Gangneung. Its long-built roasting know-how and refreshed space seem to offer travelers a comfortable pause.

A space for solo visitors and groups alike

Inside, wood-toned furniture and white walls create a bright, calm atmosphere. The high ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows make it feel open, while a long row of bar-height standing seats by the windows makes solo visits feel easy. The central hall has plenty of wooden tables and chairs. There is also an open espresso bar toward the back, where you can take in the busy, fragrant scene unique to a roastery café. Outdoor seating and landscaping are available at both the front and back, so the outside tables are especially popular on nice days.

Dripper Blend and Chodang-dong desserts

We ordered the Dripper Blend, Chodang tofu pudding, and black sesame and vanilla cruffins.

Dripper Blend

Coffee Dripper's Dripper Blend

I had really been looking forward to this coffee, and its distinctively weighty, classic flavor was as impressive as I hoped. Perhaps thanks to more than a decade of roasting skill, it had a nutty, balanced body rather than bright acidity.

Chodang tofu pudding

Soft, nutty tofu pudding

As you would expect from a dessert made with Chodang sundubu (soft tofu), one of Gangneung's signature local specialties, it was soft and nutty. The tangy raspberries on top completed the tofu pudding beautifully. The yuzu sauce served alongside was delicious even without pouring it over the pudding.

Black sesame cruffin

The nutty black sesame cream went wonderfully with the cruffin's signature crisp yet fluffy texture. Its gentle sweetness and nuttiness were beautifully balanced, and it paired well with coffee too!

Vanilla cruffin

The cruffin itself was crisp and nutty, and this one was filled with vanilla cream. Personally, I think I liked the black sesame one a little more.
