Gangnam Korean BBQ restaurant for Iberico pork neck: Bongu Hwarro

I visited Bongu Hwarro, a great pork belly spot near Gangnam Station~ It is less than a 10-minute walk from Exit 11 of Gangnam Station and is near CGV.

Bongu Hwarro is running a 50% discount event on additional meat orders for its 20th anniversary. If a place has been operating for more than 20 years, it must be good, right!!!!!!!!?

I did not know before coming, but there was a Blue Ribbon sign at the entrance! A Blue Ribbon-listed restaurant makes you feel like you can trust the food at least a little more~

Bongu Hwarro's menu board. I liked that the menu and prices were posted at the entrance, so you could check them before going in. They sold Korean beef as well as pork, and there was a good variety of sides too! There were lunch options as well, and getting lunch for these prices in Gangnam is seriously great value.

The restaurant was clean and spacious overall, so it felt nice and open! Maybe because it is near Gangnam Station, there were lots of guests with friends, plus quite a few people there for work dinners or get-togethers! There were also so many international guests... The tables were not packed tightly together, so I think even a larger group could eat comfortably.

One free Han River ramen per person and other extras

Bongu Hwarro's service felt really generous, and one highlight was that each person gets one free Han River ramen. Not one per table, but one per person—that was surprising.

There were two of us, but we cooked just one Han River ramen to enjoy the meat even more. The instructions are written on the machine, so you just follow them and it is ready in no time~~~

On top of that, the review event gives you either a bottle of soju or two cans of soft drinks!!!! Usually you get just one can as a freebie, but Bongu Hwarro's owner is incredibly generous hahaha

The complimentary side dishes that arrived while the ramen was cooking. I was surprised by how many different ones came out. First, the soy-marinated raw crab surprised me, then I was surprised all over again by a table full of seasoned skate, green onion kimchi, ham, wrap vegetables, dongchimi (radish water kimchi), seasoned scallions, and more!!! The green onion kimchi was so good with the meat that I wanted to keep getting refills,,,,,,,,haha

At Bongu Hwarro, additional meat orders are 50% off, so for your first order you can order one serving per person. We started with two servings of pork belly~~~~~~

It comes cut into easy-to-eat pieces, so you can put it straight on the grill. Grilling it over the brazier gave the meat a smoky fire flavor, making it even tastier!!!!

Getting beautifully golden~~~~~~

I tried pork belly with mushrooms and green onion kimchi, and it was smoky and seriously delicious,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I do not usually like green onion kimchi much, but this one was not bitter at all and went so well with the meat.

After finishing the pork belly, we added two servings of Iberico pork neck~ You can have it for ₩7,500 per serving. This is suuuuch a value-for-money restaurant ㅠㅠ

The Iberico pork neck was super thick~ It had a totally different appeal from the pork belly. The pork belly was great for its chewy, rich flavor, while the thick Iberico pork neck was full of juices and had a deeper meat flavor the more you chewed! If I had to choose one, I would personally recommend the Iberico pork neck haha

Fried rice and soybean paste stew set, then dessert

I thought the cold noodles might be good, so I was going to order them as a side, but then I saw the fried rice and soybean paste stew set and chose that instead. The bottom of the fried rice was crispy like scorched rice... It went well with the soybean paste stew too, and we finished it all deliciously~~~~~~~

For the final dessert, there is ice cream! You can sprinkle on as much Joripong cereal as you want. Ending things deliciously right to the very end~~~~~~~

The two of us had two servings of pork belly, two servings of Iberico pork neck, fried rice, and soybean paste stew. It was nice getting to try such a variety of things, and we left completely full haha When you are looking for a Korean BBQ place near Gangnam Station, high prices can feel burdensome, but this place has a discount on additional meat plus lots of banchan and free extras, so I thought it was good value overall! Bongu Hwarro, highly recommended!!!!!!
