Today I finished work and my mom came by the area, so we ended up having dinner together in Gangnam. We both love meat so of course we went for BBQ haha. Gangnam has so many famous samgyeopsal (pork belly) spots, but I picked this one because it had a lot of reviews praising its quality!

We went past peak time so there were still seats available. Normally it's full and popular, so you should plan ahead.

🥩 Galbi samgyeopsal 200g (₩19,000). This was the menu I was most looking forward to. It's a cut with a higher fat content than regular samgyeopsal, so even before grilling you could clearly see the layers of lean meat and fat.

If you like your samgyeopsal savory and moist, I think you'll be very satisfied.

Once grilled, I could really taste the richness coming from the fat, and the lean part had a lively meaty aroma. It was best when grilled just enough to turn golden rather than too crispy, so you could enjoy the juiciness and richness together.

They grilled it just crispy enough, and it was so savory.

The combo of baek-kimchi and wasabi was seriously the best!! I highly recommend this pairing.

The finishing dish: donjang sulbap at ₩8,000

🍚 Donjang sulbap ₩8,000. After the meat, we ordered this as our meal dish. My mom's favorite item. It's soybean paste stew (doenjang jjigae) with rice mixed in, served bubbling hot, and it goes great with the meat.

The broth really carries the doenjang flavor and there's plenty of tofu. When you're eating meat and start craving soup, this is a great thing to order alongside — it was even better than just a bowl of plain rice.
