It was one of those days when I was really craving that flashy, exotic Chinese vibe again!

I wanted a spicy, rich broth, hot dumplings packed with filling, and a cold beer to go with it all — so after some thinking about where to go, I ended up at Namsogwan U Yuk Dosakmyeon, a Chinese restaurant in Gangnam, haha.

A Gangnam Station Chinese restaurant that takes over the whole 1st and 2nd floors
As soon as I arrived and looked at the exterior, I noticed the whole first and second floors were being used, so it was much bigger than I expected!
Walking inside, the interior gave off such an exotic vibe that I almost felt like I'd been transported to actual China.

The red lighting, the flashy decor pieces, and the neatly arranged tables all made for a really interesting and pretty atmosphere, haha.

On one side of the first floor, I could even catch a glimpse of the staff hand-making dim sum, which was fun to watch.

On top of that, hearing the owner and staff freely chatting in Mandarin and Taiwanese with each other,

it really felt like I was traveling abroad, and gave me an even stronger impression that this was a serious,专业 beef knife-cut noodle spot!

Why I ordered beef knife-cut noodles, xiaolongbao, and beer all by myself
Once I sat down and looked at the menu, there was so much good stuff that I genuinely couldn't decide what to eat, haha.

I couldn't skip the dim sum, I definitely had to have the beef noodles, and I was craving a cold beer too, so

in the end I went all out and ordered the Sichuan-style beef knife-cut noodles, xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), and Harbin beer, all together!

It felt like a bit much for one person, but calories don't count if it's delicious, right? Haha.

As I kept eating, it was so good that the whole solo portion went in easily! I finished every last bit, haha.
How spicy is the Sichuan-style beef knife-cut noodles, really?
The Sichuan-style beef knife-cut noodles came out first, and the visuals alone were incredible.

I normally love a spicy, punchy broth, and the moment I took my first spoonful, that dizzyingly spicy yet deep, rich broth flavor wrapped around my tongue — it was totally my type!

Since the noodles were knife-cut (dosakmyeon), they had a chewy texture that soaked up the broth really well, making every bite fun to chew. The generous chunks of beef melted softly in my mouth too — I was in awe while eating, haha.

Pairing it with Harbin beer
And thanks to that spicy, rich broth, the Harbin beer I ordered alongside tasted several times better, haha.

Taking a cool sip of Harbin right after a spoonful of the spicy beef noodle broth — that combo was absolutely amazing!
I thought it would be the perfect combo for a satisfying lunch near Gangnam Station or a happy drink after work.

How was the xiaolongbao broth inside?
The xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) that came out next were steaming from the steamer basket, and just the sight of them made my mouth water.

I dipped one lightly in soy sauce, placed it on a spoon, tore a small hole in the wrapper to taste the broth first, and then popped the whole thing in my mouth!

The moment I bit in — pop! — warm, savory broth burst out all over my mouth, and it was genuinely amazing, ugh.

The dumpling wrapper was chewy and the filling was packed full of meaty flavor — I immediately understood why customers keep coming in!
Taking a bite of the spicy Sichuan beef knife-cut noodles, then dipping the juicy dumpling in sauce, and finishing it off with a cold Harbin beer — all my stress just melted away, haha.
Harbin beer really couldn't pair better with such excellent food. Enjoying properly made beef noodles, juicy dumplings, and cold beer in that exotic, authentic Chinese vibe made for such a satisfying time.

Who would I recommend this to
