After sweating it all out at the sauna in Starfield Goyang, I was looking for a pork barbecue place nearby to properly recharge before evening — and found this local favorite near Samsong Station!

How to walk from Starfield Goyang to Neopttakjip Samsong Branch, plus free basement parking

Neopttakjip Samsong Branch sits less than 100m from Exit 3 of Samsong Station. We walked over from Starfield Goyang, which took about 10 minutes. If you're driving, there's a basement parking lot at the building where you can park for free.

How long is the wait at Neopttakjip at 7pm?

We got there a little after 7pm and the place was packed haha. There seemed to be a lot of apartments nearby, so it looks like it's popular with local residents. We waited about 15 minutes that day.

You write down your waiting number like this and the staff will call you. There are also several chairs outside for waiting.

Neopttakjip's self-serve bar: unlimited aged kimchi and lettuce

Finally we're seated! As soon as we got in, we ordered the meat and ran straight to the self-serve bar.

You can help yourself to delicious aged kimchi (묵은지), lettuce, and various vegetables without any hesitation. At barbecue places you're sometimes a bit shy about calling the staff every time you need something, right? This place has a self-serve bar so you can just help yourself freely, which was great haha.

What two people ordered at Neopttakjip, and what it cost

This is Neopttakjip's menu. We came for dinner but the lunch menu looked pretty good too. Meat, stew, and drinks for two people for just 40,000 won! Super cost-effective.

Here's exactly what the two of us ordered that day!

• Mixed grill (600g) + grilled vegetables (for 2) = ₩57,000
• 1 bottle soju, 2 bottles beer = ₩15,000
• Rice = ₩1,000
• Neopttak spicy ramyeon (review event) = (₩4,000 → ₩0)

Three servings of pork belly or the mixed grill: which to order

We debated between ordering three servings of pork belly or the mixed grill, but honestly, if it's your first visit to Neopttakjip, I strongly recommend going with the mixed grill. The mixed grill includes pork neck (목심), pork belly (삼겹), hayansal (하얀살), saitsal (사잇살), and kkodeulsal (꼬들살), along with grilled vegetables. The specialty cuts like saitsal and kkodeulsal, which you don't usually get to try, had great texture and were so delicious.

The staff explained that you should eat the pork neck and saitsal first, then move on to the kkodeulsal, hayansal, and pork belly. The grilled vegetables are mushroom, sweet potato, and enoki mushroom. Eating this way fills you up completely, and it's still under 60,000 won — pretty good value, right? haha

The staff's recommended way to eat it, and the grilled rice cake

A must: grill the rice cake, sweet potato, and kimchi until golden brown.

According to the staff, the best way to enjoy Neopttakjip's meat is: dip it in the sesame oil that comes as a basic side, then dip that in perilla seed powder, then dip it in salt. It's really delicious that way haha. ※ Also, note that Neopttakjip doesn't replace the grill plate — they clean it for you instead!

This rice cake is the real kicker. When grilled, it gets golden and crispy on the outside while staying chewy inside — seriously so good;;

We only ordered one bowl of rice but they gave us a huge portion haha.

The free Neopttak spicy ramyeon from the review event

The Naver review event is such a great deal. You can choose ramyeon, pork skin, or a drink — we went with the Neopttak spicy ramyeon!

I really recommend trying this even if you're not doing the review event. It's 4,000 won, and as a ramyeon lover, my verdict is that it's Shin Ramyeon-based haha. They cook the noodles perfectly chewy and delicious. It pairs so well with the meat and the soju-beer mix.

Group tables and private rooms at Neopttakjip Samsong Branch

Neopttakjip is also great for groups. If you make a group reservation through Naver, it looks like they'll seat you in a private room like this.

And finally, pork belly to close things out! When the mixed grill set first arrived, it didn't look like that much, but by the end there was plenty for two people. The self-serve bar and side dishes were all satisfying, so I'll definitely be coming back next time we're out at Starfield. ♥

Before heading out, mint candy and Febreze are a must haha. ++ Neopttakjip has a restroom inside, so it's convenient to use. And above all, the staff were so friendly that we ended the evening feeling comfortable and happy.
