Family-friendly shabu-shabu in Seohae, Incheon: Shabuway

In short

Shabuway Ruwon City Cheongna Branch is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant in Seohae, Incheon. We visited for weekend lunch with our 35-month-old and enjoyed thin-sliced meat, a substantial salad bar, and two kinds of broth. A satisfying choice for a hearty family shabu-shabu meal.

Weekend lunch visit and parking

We went with our child for weekend lunch, and it was a place I was happy with because the all-you-can-eat selection was so substantial.

Location: 2F, Ruwon Top Plaza, 11 Yeomgok-ro 464beon-gil, Seo-gu, Incheon Price: ₩29,900 per person on weekends (unlimited meat included) Parking: Underground parking, with 2 hours validated

We arrived around 12:30, and it was fairly relaxed then. But around 1:00, a group came in and it quickly got busy.

As you would expect from a popular spot in Cheongna Ruwon City, weekend lunch tends to draw a crowd, so I recommend coming a little early if you want a more relaxed visit. There was plenty of space in the underground parking garage even on the weekend, and the two-hour validation made for an easygoing meal.

That also gave me the impression that this is one of the more convenient places in Cheongna Ruwon City for families dining with children.

How were the three unlimited meat options?

There were three meats—beef brisket, beef chuck roll, and pork neck—and they were all sliced thinly, so they were easy to eat.

The meat had good color and no odor at all, which made it feel fresh and trustworthy.

The price is a little higher, but considering that the meat is unlimited too, it felt perfectly reasonable.

The weekday lunch special is ₩18,000, so it looks nice for a lighter visit too. Unfortunately, unlimited meat is not included.

Fresh vegetables and a well-stocked salad bar

There were mung bean sprouts, napa cabbage, bok choy, and several kinds of mushrooms. It was not an unusual selection, but the vegetables themselves felt fresh and well replenished. Those details gave it the feel of a higher-end shabu-shabu restaurant.

The salad bar also had seasoned meat, tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried meat), and chicken, so it was really nice for feeding a child. Personally, the mala xiang guo was better than expected—I was surprised by how well the mala flavor came through and how fresh the vegetables were.

Even the salad bar alone made me think this was one of the standout places in Cheongna Ruwon City. And personally, our child absolutely loved the perilla oil pasta!

Half-and-half broth and plenty of sauces

You can choose a half-and-half pot with mild broth and a spicy broth.

We started by adding vegetables to make a vegetable broth, then put in the meat once it was bubbling away.

The meat was thin and good quality, so we really enjoyed it. Having the spicy broth alongside it kept the meal from feeling too rich, which was nice.

There was also a nice range of sauces, including peanut, chili, and ponzu, so we could keep eating without getting tired of it.

Finishing with kalguksu and ice cream

To finish, you can add kalguksu (knife-cut noodles). There were two colors of fresh noodles: buckwheat noodles and baeknyeoncho, or prickly pear, noodles. They took a little while to cook because they were fresh, but their chewy texture was just right for ending the meal.

For dessert, there was ice cream and coffee. We topped our ice cream with chocolate chips and shared it with our child.

Why it was great with our 35-month-old

There were plenty of meat and side-dish options, and the shabu-shabu meat and vegetables were soft, making them good for a child too. Our child is 35 months old, and children under 36 months eat free, so there was no extra charge. A high chair and children's utensils were also well prepared, which was convenient.

It is not an especially cheap place, but the quality of the meat and the salad bar selection made it feel well worth the price.

With easy parking, good-quality meat, and plenty of food for children, it was a great place for a family gathering. Families with young children in particular will appreciate the free policy for children under 36 months, high chairs, and children's utensils.

I recommend it to anyone looking for a good place in Cheongna Ruwon City, or anyone who wants to enjoy an all-you-can-eat meal comfortably with a child! Next time, I want to try the mala broth too.
