Sindang pork belly with white wasabi and soju: Beefjeong Gogi Jip

In short

Beefjeong Gogi Jip is a pork belly Korean BBQ restaurant about 110m from Exit 8 of Sindang Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Over dinner with a friend, the flash-frozen samgyeopsal (pork belly) came with kimchi and scallion strips, plus white wasabi on top, and it cooked through fast so there was little waiting. Beefjeong Gogi Jip is a easy neighborhood grill house for pork belly and a glass of soju.

My friend and I were trying to figure out where to grab dinner, and I ended up taking them to Beefjeong Gogi Jip, one of my favorite Korean BBQ spots haha. This place has been on my mind whenever I want meat, so I told my friend it was great and we went together.

I went in with high expectations again, and to cut to the chase — it was great as always hahaha. Meat is always good, but eating it with soju and a friend hits different, you know? So this time I decided to really go all out.

Where is Beefjeong Gogi Jip, and what are the hours?

Beefjeong Gogi Jip is at 6 Toegye-ro 74-gil, 1F, Jung-gu, Seoul, about 110m from Exit 8 of Sindang Station. Walk straight out of Exit 8 for about 30 seconds and you'll hit a Mega Coffee — look to the left and there's Beefjeong! It's really close to Sindang Station and easy to find :)

For parking, I'd recommend Chungmu Art Hall across the street or the public parking lot near KB Kookmin Bank by Exit 5 of Sindang Station. Hours are daily 16:00–24:00, with last order at 23:00. Reservations can be made by DM or text, and the place also offers group seating, Wi-Fi, and easy payment.

What Beefjeong Gogi Jip feels like at dinnertime

When we walked in during dinner, there were more people than I expected. I wanted a quiet meal with my friend, but almost every table already had customers hahaha. I guess that's just how it goes at a good Korean BBQ place once dinnertime rolls around.

Still, it wasn't too chaotic, and it was comfortable enough to chat with my friend over the meal.

We sat down and did a soju cheers first! Soju before meat is basically the law hahaha. Cheers~~~ 🍻 And then, today's star arrived!

The quick-frozen pork belly I ordered at Beefjeong Gogi Jip finally arrived hahaha. Meat is love, always ♡

Onto the grill and let the grilling begin hahahaha.

Maybe because it was quick-frozen, it cooked faster than I expected. As the meat cooked on the grill, that savory smell rose up — it was truly a hunger-inducing smell hahaha. You only wait a little while before you can dig in, so as someone with zero patience, this menu was extremely satisfying hahaha.

A fully cooked piece of pork belly

I picked up a piece of the nicely browned pork belly and ate it right away — so good hahahaha. I guess because I love meat so much, pork belly is always delicious no matter when I eat it.

Kimchi, scallion strips and the white wasabi combo

The sides matter a lot with Beefjeong Gogi Jip's quick-frozen pork belly. The pork belly is delicious on its own, but the sides really make it, right hahaha. Put kimchi and scallion strips on a piece of pork belly and it's seriously so good hahahaha. Add a shot of soju on top of that and that's basically evening happiness, isn't it hahaha.

Pork belly topped with white wasabi

And one more combo I really liked — eating it with white wasabi. I put a little white wasabi on a piece of pork belly and tried it, and oh, that was really good too. The sharp kick of the wasabi cut through the richness of the pork belly, so it felt clean and light to eat.

Eating the delicious pork belly with soju felt like all the stress I'd been carrying just melted away hahaha. I really think chatting away over good food with a friend is the happiest kind of time. Honestly nothing special happened that day, but eating good meat, having a drink of soju, and talking comfortably turned it into a proper mood reset :)
