Why we stopped at Deo Chadol on the way back from Seoul Grand Park
Deo Chadol is a duck specialty restaurant on Ditgol 2-ro in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi. We stopped by this Gwacheon favorite on the way home from Seoul Grand Park. Searching around, I found Deo Chadol has quite a reputation as a family-friendly spot to hit after visiting the National Gwacheon Science Museum, Seoul Land, or Seoul Grand Park. True to Gwacheon restaurant form, the parking was perfect, and the place had a country-garden kind of vibe.

It was pretty hot out that day, so we parked and headed straight into the restaurant. As our car pulled in, a staff member came out and helped guide the parking.

You just park anywhere in the gravel lot, and the space is really generous. This spot is right next to Seonbawi Station, and there were plenty of restaurants around, plus quite a few cafés to hit right after the meal.

How long is the wait at late Saturday lunch?
We visited during Saturday late lunch and the place was fully booked, with quite a few reserved tables. I waited a little over 10 minutes. Looking around, surprisingly there were some couples, but the crowd was mostly families out for a meal or groups of older adults.

It didn't feel like a rowdy drinking spot so much as a place quieter groups come to often, so I thought it was well suited for a family visit.

Across from the main hall there's also a separate room, which looked good for reservations if you want a quiet meal.

Is Deo Chadol good with a baby? Two types of baby chairs
Since we came with a baby, the most important question was of course whether the place is kid-friendly. There were tons of baby chairs, and even at the bar tables you could sit with a baby, since they had two kinds — with legs and without.
Deo Chadol menu and the 55,000-won couple course for two

Since Deo Chadol is basically a duck specialty restaurant, most of the menu is duck dishes. Coming as a pair, most people go for the couple course, and the 3- and 4-person course setups looked really solid too. With 2 adults and 1 baby, we ordered the couple course for two at ₩55,000.

You order through a kiosk, and since they run a lot of promotions, there's plenty you can get extra if you pay attention. There were review events, follow events, several going at once.

The basic side dishes were salad, lettuce wraps, green onion kimchi, pickled perilla leaves, and so on — if you run out, you can grab more from the self-serve bar.

The vegetables grilled alongside are water dropwort, king oyster mushroom, and onion. Staff told us in advance that once the duck fat starts rendering, you should grill the vegetables in it.

Sulfur-fed duck chadol barbecue and the house special sauce
The sulfur-fed duck chadol BBQ is ₩18,000 for 200g, and the meat quality looked really good.

The house sauce is on the spicier side, and it was tasty enough that you could tell why they call it 'special sauce.' I've noticed this before, but duck chadol has a clean, light flavor, so even the baby ate it up happily.

The doenjang (soybean paste) stew that came with the set was also quite clean-tasting.

Raw duck jumulleok and self-serve fried rice to finish
Next came the raw duck jumulleok (spicy stir-fried duck). They say it's ready to eat once the sweet potato is fully cooked through — it turned out less spicy than I expected, more like a dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) sauce flavor.

Man... duck jumulleok is hard to share with a baby, but for adults it's a real treat, a true standout. Coming right after the light, clean duck chadol, it worked perfectly in terms of order too — really delicious.

Last in the couple set is the fried rice. You make it yourself, stir-frying it together with whatever meat is left over.

The duck jumulleok's own sauce is incredible on its own, and eating it with the seaweed and perilla leaves made for a perfect finish. Heading out to pay, I noticed toothpicks, dental floss, and mouth-rinse stations set up for guests — it really drove home how much thought Deo Chadol puts into taking care of customers.
Is Deo Chadol in Gwacheon worth a visit?
On a day like this, when you want a good garden-style meal with family in Gwacheon, Deo Chadol is a great choice. They even set out milk coffee at the end, and between the parking, the atmosphere, and the food, everything is solid — making it a great option for families looking for a good restaurant near Seoul Grand Park or Seoul Land.
