Guro, Seoul Chinese restaurant set: Junghwa Yori Hyeon

Today I want to introduce Junghwa Yori Hyeon (중화요리현), a great Chinese restaurant in Gudi that I visited because I was craving Chinese food. Here is the entrance!! It is in the basement of an office building, so it was a little tricky to find, but I made it safely!!

Chinese-inspired interior and thoughtful amenities

There were not many people inside, but it looked like lots of delivery orders were coming in. Chinese restaurants really are all about delivery, right?? There is so much gold and, are those goldfish..? Hahahaha. They also have baijiu and other Chinese liquor on display. It kind of makes you feel as if you are on a trip to China.

I looked over and found aprons thoughtfully prepared so you do not splash jajangmyeon or jjamppong broth on white clothes. If you have a baby with you, there are high chairs too, so I do not think you need to worry haha.

I came for dinner with my boyfriend, so we ordered a set menu!! We ordered the jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork) set, and it was more generous than we expected, so we had tangsuyuk left over. The restaurant kindly packed up the leftovers for us, so we got to munch on tangsuyuk again as a late-night snack at home~

But this place is amazing for jajangmyeon... Can you see that color?? Delivery is convenient, of course, but it really cannot compare with food that comes straight out of the kitchen at the restaurant. When I got to the point of slurping jajangmyeon and feeling a little choked up, I had some jjamppong broth, and wow... I immediately thought we had made such a good choice for Chinese food after so long.

The jjamppong had all kinds of seafood, especially lots of squid, but I eat slowly, so my boyfriend ate it all..? Haha. My squid... Do not let anyone steal your squid, everyoneㅠㅠ

Dip the tangsuyuk, with plenty of table sauces

The tangsuyuk looked delicious from the start, fried to a lovely golden brown. But everyone, do you pour the sauce over your tangsuyuk or dip it? I am a dipper!! My boyfriend even dipped his in soy sauce with chili flakes mixed in??? I wonder what that tastes like...

Oh!! Each table has vinegar, soy sauce, and chili flakes, so you can eat it however you like. Looking at it now, there were plenty of paper cups too.

Danmuji (pickled yellow radish) and onions come as standard, but if you need more, you can pick some up from the self-service station. There is plenty of chunjang (black bean paste) prepared too.

After finishing everything deliciously, I spotted candy when it was time to pay, haha. It was nice to have one each as a little palate cleanser. I had orange!! My boyfriend had strawberry!! You do not see many places giving out candy like this these days, so it felt thoughtful in every way.

Dinner set and parking information

Later, I noticed a banner outside that said “Dinner Set”?? It seems to be an event for enjoying Chinese food at a lower price. I only saw it afterward... If I come again, I will try the dinner set next time~

Final thoughts

Junghwa Yori Hyeon is a nice place to visit when you want to enjoy Chinese food casually near Guro Digital Complex Station! Especially if you visit as a pair, the set menu seems great for sharing small portions of several dishes, and it also seems like a good spot for office workers having lunch or dinner.

The building parking garage is provided for up to 1 hour, and additional charges apply after that. Keep that in mind~~~
